Music City Star Cab Ride - Entire Route, Lebanon to Nashville
Ride the Music City Star and see what the engineer sees on the entire route.
Note: Many of the public and private crossing on this line are quiet crossings so the engineer will not routinely use the horn or bell at these crossings.
This is the special train operated every year on July 4th, taking people downtown to see Nashville's fireworks. This train is longer than most Star trains (two locomotives and eight cars instead of the normal single locomotive with three or four cars) so at some stations the cab car goes much farther than normal.
It was very hot that day so there was a speed restriction, which means this Star is running a little slower than normal.

Train Trip Aboard Flagg Coal Co.#75 'Hank' the Tank Engine
We had a great, fun-filled day aboard #75 'Hank' the Tank Engine today!! Thank you to Barney and John Gramling of Flagg Coal for bringing their tough little Yard Engine to Ohio for this event, and all the folks at the Lebanon Mason & Monroe Railroad for staging a great experience! Also at the station this day, were some reenactors from local Historical Societies, who showed up in their period costumes. There were representatives from many of the wars and conflicts in History. Several were aboard for the ride. Between the reenactors, and some area Amish passengers, it made for an almost Twilight Zone sort of Time Machine ride!
You can learn about Hank's journey from the 'scrap heap' to the great little engine he is today here ...
About John and Barney Gramling who care enough to save and restore these intrepid little Steam Locomotives ...
About general information and appearances ...
And about the Lebanon Mason Lebanon Mason & Monroe Railroad who put on the event ...
Here's are a couple videos about a ride on the Lebanon Mason & Monroe Railroad (LM&M) #55 ... We will be making this excursion as well!

Thomas the Train
I took my daughter to see Thomas rolling in. We spent the afternoon riding on the train and enjoying the festival.
Streamliner on the 'Mainline': Clinchfield 800 running the DT&I
On October 27th, Ohio Rail Experience ran their last excursion with 800 (for the time being), leading on the former DT&I from Springfield to Lima and trailing on the return trip (which I couldn't stick around for). The classic lines of a streamliner and bright Clinchfield colors met bright autumn trees, and lots of railfans were out to capture it. Enjoy!
Peek Inside Thomas the Tank Engine
Ever wanted to see inside Thomas the Tank Engine at a Day Out with Thomas event? Here's a look inside at the Tennessee Central Railway Museum in Nashville, TN.
There are five standard gauge and two narrow gauge versions of Thomas for these events. One is an operating steam locomotive.

Zanesville and Western Scenic Railroad Grassman Festival
On the same weekend that I did Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad's Steam in the Valley 2017 with Nickel Plate Road #765, I rode the Zanesville and Western Scenic Railroad the night before during the Grassman Festival. This railroad (ex. Buckeye Central Scenic Railroad) has been operating train rides out of Mt. Perry since 2013. The railroad relocated from its' old home in Hebron in 2007 due to a bike path proposal. It took them 5 years to get the go signal to operate trains over the old Z&W right of way. Fultonham, just east of Mt. Perry is where the original Ohio Central Railroad started in 1988. This is also my first video using a Rebel T6 camera instead of my usual iPod.
Above CSX's CC Subdivision in Rockcastle County Kentucky (Drone Video)
CSX’s CC Subdivision runs through some of the most beautiful topography in central Kentucky. South of Berea, this former L&N line cuts through many of the limestone hills in Rockcastle county as it closely follows Roundstone creek. This requires a plethora of tunnels and bridges between Roundstone and Livingston to shortcut some of the windier parts of the stream.
On June 11, 2017 we caught three CSX freights as they rolled south towards Corbin. This included an empty coal train and two manifests. The most dramatic scene is at Mullins Station as we fly above the rugged terrain near a former limestone mine. Additional action is seen at the tunnels in Orlando as well as the more open countryside in Conway, just south of Berea.
Nickel Plate 765 excursion train in Youngstown Ohio
So me and a fellow friend found out through a fellow engineer that the Nickel Plate steam engine makes a excursion trip in Ohio once a year over in Youngstown Ohio up north to Ashtabula Ohio. Being that I never caught a steamer we looked up the schedule and found out that it ran the third week of July. My friend bummed out cause he had work but I was off so I immediately jumped on the opportunity to catch it another friend joined me who had the same day off and had nothing to do and wanted to also see it.
Nickel Plate 765 2-8-4 steam engine was the head of the excursion. Private cars are in order
