LUMAS Budapest: MEET THE ARTIST: Pep Ventosa
Recently we celebrated Pep Ventosa who was our distinguished guest in LUMAS Budapest Gallery.
We opened our exhibition: 'In The Round – Trees':
One might say it’s all about the trees, forms and colors of nature but these pieces mean much more. Pep Ventosa photographs trees from all angles, a montage beyond reality. Without a single viewpoint the variety of perspectives inspire uncertainty. Moving from a precise image we discover one as doubtful and mysterious as memory. That is not a picture to help us remember – but a picture of remembrance.
LUMAS presents limited, hand-signed edition of contemporary photographic artworks. Its purpose to make art available to a wider audience and encourage one to become a collector (as the founders originally are). The Gallery's interior resembles rooms of an apartment thus helping visitors to relate to the intended place of the pieces.

LUMAS presents Garden of Eden by Katalin Vasali
A dzsungel fogalma radikálisan különbözik az itthoni erdőétől. Ennek megtapasztalása szülte ezt a sorozatot, amely a szakadatlan esőzések miatt alig egy nap alatt készült el.
A Garden of Eden nem dokumentum. Sietve lekapott pillanatfelvételek helyett gondosan kikísérletezett beállítások készültek, 20-30 másodperces expozícióval.
Minthogy a természetben nem létezik „ideális”, a cím arra utal, hogy a dzsungel mint látvány ideális. Kellemes a szemnek. Pont ezért a művész legjobb húzása, hogy nem szabadult meg a romlásnak indult levelektől. Látjuk a pusztulást, amiben a haldokló növények még helyet kérnek az őket fojtogatók között. A dzsungelben folyamatos harc folyik a fényért, ami most új helyről érkezik, a fotográfus zseblámpájából.
