La Amistad National Park - Panama, Costa Rica ???????? Wild Life Documentary
The location of this unique site in Central America, where Quaternary glaciers have left their mark, has allowed the fauna and flora of North and South America to interbreed. Tropical rainforests cover most of the area. Four different Indian tribes inhabit this property, which benefits from close co-operation between Costa Rica and Panama.

Durika -part 1
The Durika Biological Reserve is localized in a protected zone of the Biosphere and ends at the North with the Amistad International Park (A.I.P), an area of more than 1,000,000 hectares that include the largest unexplored virgin forest in the whole of Costa Rica. This fascinating area has not been explored in depth due mainly to the difficulties of the terrain, and also because of the lack of places in which to stay for visitors. For this reason the Durika Foundation offers the true naturalist a unique opportunity to get to know and appreciate this part of Costa Rica as very few have had the opportunity to appreciate and enjoy before.

Costa Rica Travel Guide
Costa Rica Travel Guide
Costa Rica is a small country in Central America bordered by Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the south, the Pacific Ocean to the west, and the Caribbean Sea to the east. Though its capital, San Jose, is home to cultural institutions like the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum, Costa Rica is known for its beaches, volcanoes, and biodiversity. Roughly a quarter of its area is made up of protected jungle, teeming with wildlife including spider monkeys and quetzal birds.
Since the late 1980s Costa Rica became a popular nature travel destination, and its main competitive advantage is its well-established system of national parks and protected areas, covering around 23.4% of the country's land area, the largest in the world as a percentage of the country's territory, and home to a rich variety of flora and fauna. By the early 1990s, Costa Rica became known as the poster child of ecotourism. According to the Costa Rican Tourism Board. This nation has bewilderingly diverse culture, climates, flora, fauna, and landscapes. From rain forests, to dry tropical and temperate forests, to volcanoes, to Caribbean and Pacific beaches, to high mountains, and marshy lowlands.
Costa Rica has a rich and vibrant history that first marked the history books on September 18th 1502. This date was when the land mass was first discovered by Christopher Columbus. Costa Rica is one of the world's most popular destinations for eco-tourists because of its biodiversity. Costa Rica possesses the greatest density of species in the world, and around 25% of its national territory is protected by a system of conservation areas and national parks.
Because Costa Rica is located between eight and 12 degrees north of the Equator, the climate is Tropical year round. However, the country has many microclimates depending on elevation, rainfall, topography, and by the geography of each particular region.

Rainforest at dawn. Located in the southeastern corner of Costa Rica, the Talamanca region has one of the largest remaining stands of the Atlantic Moist Forest in Costa Rica. It connects the highlands of the Talamanca Mountain Range to protected coastal and marine areas. Talamanca is the most ethnically and culturally diverse area in the country, which contributed to its declaration as a World Heritage Site. The area is home to 65 percent of Costa Rica's indigenous population, including members of the Bribí and Cabecar tribes, as well as Afro-Caribbeans and settlers from throughout Costa Rica and other Central America countries.
Among the 84 mammals in Talamanca are the jaguar, puma, ocelot, mantled howler monkey, black-handed spider monkey, tapir, and manatee. Boa constrictors, crocodiles, green iguanas, and poison arrow frogs are some of the 141 species of reptiles found here. Three-hundred sixty-one bird species reside in Talamanca, including the endangered green macaw and harpy eagle. The Corridor was created to enable the movement of flora and fauna from La Amistad Biosphere Reserve to the coast. It also serves as an escape in the event that projected global warming forces a shift of species between terrestrial areas. There is a great diversity of plant species, including species that, outside of Talamanca, have only been reported on the Osa Peninsula and others that are new to science. Talamanca marine life is abundant with 227 species of fish, and green, hawksbill and loggerhead turtles. It is also one of the most important nesting sites for leatherback turtles in Central America.
