Incorporating Merengue dance rhythms from the Dominican Republic – rhythms based on the Dominican drum called a tambora, which has skins on two sides. This energetic and rhythmic song was featured at the Central/North Central ACDA honors choir concert in 2018. Even the audience can join in on the fun dancing and clapping along with the choir.

Cable Car - Christ Redeemer - Isabel De Torres, Puerto Plata
2017.01.31, My Caribbean Cruise Ship Carnival Sunshine docked at Amber Cove, in the Dominican Republic, on this nice weather Tuesday. At the transportation terminal, I got a Taxi, and my driver Anour, agreed to take me south of the town of Puerto Plata where the Cable Car goes up the mountain of Isabel de Torres (elevation 781 meters), to the Christ the Redeemer Statue, and then wait for me to take me back. This adventure is not a Carnival sponsored tour or excursion. Up top, it was understood between the driver and I, that I would be exploring the tropical gardens and take in the views. Give yourself 1-2 hours. (No need for a guide.) I was cruising with 9 other people, but I could not find anyone to join me; so I went alone. I paid $45 round trip for the Taxi and $8 for the Cable Car ride. The cable length is 2,730 meters. The Taxi ride was less than 30 minutes one way. The Cable Car ride was just under 9 minutes one way. There was a line on both rides; less than 45 minutes total. Clouds will occasionally block visibility on the summit, but the views are incredible. I felt safe. I like adventures, so I definitely recommend this if you are at Amber Cove. If you are thinking about zip lining at Amber Cove, you would be better off going on this adventure!
