Costa Brava Travel Guide for Food Lovers (Cadaqués, La Vall de Bianya, Pyrenees & Girona) in Spain
Join us as we showcase the Costa Brava region of Spain in this travel guide for food lovers as part of #EuroFoodTrip.
We started off our journey spending the night in Cadaqués waking up the following morning to go on a sailing trip along the Cap de Creus Natural Park on a traditional boat. We had the opportunity to bask in the sun and eat plenty of local seafood including Fideuà (noodles with seafood) and mussels with Bizcochos Borrachos (drunken Spanish sponge cake) for dessert. In the afternoon we visited La Vinyeta Cellar vineyard to harvest grapes by hand and then crush them with our feet. Afterwards we enjoyed a wine tasting paired with cheese. That evening we did a cooking workshop and a gin and tonic workshop and tasting with Gin Nut staying overnight at La Vall de Bianya.
The following morning had us waking up before the crack of dawn to go on a hot air balloon ride over la Garrotxa where we had a fantastic view of the Pyrenees mountain range. We then transferred to Girona where we had lunch at Celler de Can Roca considered to be the 2nd best restaurant in the world. After relaxing for a bit we took a guided city tour of Girona exploring its wonderful architecture, sampling some gelato and picking out Game of Thrones locations. Our final meal on this trip featured traditional Catalan food at Can Xifra restaurant where I got to drink wine out of a porró and had the best rum and raisin ice cream I've ever tasted in my whole life.

Costa Brava Travel Guide for Food Lovers (Cadaqués, La Vall de Bianya, Pyrenees & Girona) in Spain Travel Food Video Transcript:
So hey guys, this week we are in Costa Brava, Spain and we're going to be taking you on a bit of a food adventure. Can't wait to eat and travel.
So it is a beautiful day out. We have blue skies and I think that calls for a sailing trip.
So lunch is served and we are having Fideuà on the boat so have a look here. This is a seafood dish and it is made with pasta that is cooked in fish juice and we've also got some prawns.
So next up we're at La Vinyeta and this is a winery and a vineyard so we're going to be drinking some wine and doing a little tour.
So Sam has found a new career here in Costa Brava picking grapes
So I'm going to be stomping some grapes this afternoon in order to do so I need my traditional Catalan hat, Catalan scarf. Now I'm ready to do this and we're going barefoot.
So Sam tell us what are you about to drink? I'm trying the grapes that you stepped on. With my bare feet.
Well, I can't think of a better way to finish off this vineyard tour than with wine, cheese and cold cuts
So tonight we are spending the night in a place called la Ferreria and this hotel is like traveling back in time.
We're taking a hot air balloon ride and it should be amazing. Like this is something we've never done and we really want to try it out. Yeah, so we're going to be flying over the Pyrenees mountains and it should be spectacular. Let's go.
So this afternoon we're doing a bit of a taste test at el Celler de Can Roca and this is the second highest rated restaurant in the whole world. It should be delicious.
So next up we're going to start the appetizer and this is going to take us a journey around the world.
And there is the world.
So this afternoon we're going to do a walking tour of Girona and it looks beautiful. It looks really colorful but first up we need to get ice cream.
Okay, so we finally got our ice cream and apparently there is some kind of Game of Thrones reference here. It is called Ma Daurada and that means the golden hand.
So this bridge was built by Monsieur Eiffel himself before the Eiffel Tower ever came to be.
So that is a wrap from beautiful Costa Brava. I have to say we ate like Kings and Queens while we were here. Yeah, and we got a nice taste of the region in terms of all of the travel activities and things you can do as well. Definitely somewhere we'd like to come back and explore more in-depth. Yeah, so we hope you enjoyed this video and if you have any questions about travel in Costa Brava, Spain just leave them in the comments below. See you next time.

Spain France Cycling Thrill Oct 2017
Spain France Cycling - An extract of the 7 days cycling from Spain's Banyoles, Girona, Calella de Palafrugell, Castello D'Empuries, La Vinyeta vineyards, and France's Arles, Avignon, Goult, Pertuis. This cover mostly some of the downhill fun. The full trip can be seen on each individual day's video.
Calella de Palafrugell
ENG : Calella de Palafrugell is one of three coastal towns belonging to the municipality of Palafrugell, province of Girona, Spain, the other two being Llafranc and Tamariu. It is part of the Costa Brava, the coastal region of northeastern Catalonia, in the comarca of Baix Empordà. Calella de Palafrugell is a small holiday resort and fishing village near Palafrugell and a short distance along the coast from Llafranc. It should not be confused with the larger, more commercialised resort of Calella, which is further south towards Barcelona, in the comarca of Maresme.
Calella de Palafrugell has an excellent setting and, whilst busy in the summer season, it does not have the large hotels and mass tourism of other Costa Brava resorts such as Lloret de Mar. The coastline of the town stretches some two kilometres south to the El Golfet beach - part of the Cap Roig headland where beautiful Botanical gardens are located.
The town has a number of good standard hotels, apartments and, at a distance from the beach, some campsites. Like much of the picturesque section of the Costa Brava, north of Palamos and south of L'Estartit, Calella has moved steadily upmarket in recent times and offers some very high quality restaurants and hotels - at prices to match. The beaches are Blue Flag standard.
Calella de Palafrugell has a number of beautiful small coves linked to Llafranc via a coastal walk. The first of the beaches at Calella de Palafrugell is 'Canadell' where you have the Tragamar restaurant on the beach which is open during the summer season.
Port Bo is a small sandy cove located just south of central Calella de Palafrugell. Les Voltes is a beach where you have a small promenade set back from the beach with several restaurants and beach shop. Platja Sota Can Calau is the next one along and after that Port Pelegri, Sant Roc and El Golfet which is approximately 1.5 km from central Calella de Palafrugell.
Calella de Palafrugell is a very popular destination dominated by apartments blocks set just back enough not to be seen from the beach. There are only a small number of hotels in this area.

Video Transcript: - You hear that, Bina? I've been very impressed. As I said, everywhere you find curb cuts, so I don't have to worry about getting up and down the pavements. There are more disabled parking spots in Catalonia, on the Costa Brava, than I've seen anywhere in the world. And also, everything I've done here has been for the first time, so many things I've done for the first time, so many activities. Whether it's the hot air ballooning, the paragliding, going in the water in the beach wheelchair using the Joelette. It's been actually a really really exciting time. This was absolutely one of the top things I wanted to do. So this was great to see the volcanoes and the forests, and all the different medieval villages. I was a little bit apprehensive about the landing, but I was lucky because I had a nice comfortable seat. I could enjoy the landing. It was even better than I thought it would be. It's so good to be able to access nature because I can't walk up the trail like that. With steps and with the hills, it's impossible for me to go. And everybody knows how important nature is for mental health. I think I've heard about it, but I've never thought about doing it even. I was a little bit worried because I have less control of my limbs, and I can't raise my hands as high. I was a bit worried that I couldn't do it, but in the end it was absolutely fine. It was so exhilarating I can't walk so much, but at least I can fly. You really learn a lot about winemaking, and all the different processes I'm very very impressed with the sustainability and the organic the way of the organic farming techniques. I'll definitely recommend a visit for, a visit to learn about the wine, but also to appreciate that you can do things the right way and still make business success. In Girona, I love the river running threw it and the fact that we have bridges over it so you can get a really good view. Also, the beautiful coloured houses on the river. I wish we had more time to go and explore the small streets. There are very small old medieval streets. The cathedral was really impressive, particularly because there were no columns. So it was a very open space. There was, of course, no air conditioning, but it just shows how the stone makes everything cool. it's very insulated. Compared with other old medieval cities, it's actually quite accessible. There is so much to do here. I didn't know there was so much to do, I thought maybe a few beaches, and then maybe a couple of towns, but there is so much to do here. You are here maybe 10 or 20 years ahead of Australia for accessibility for the beaches. All the, so much equipment and so much of the beach matting, and the beach wheelchairs, and the accessible toilets. You are so far ahead of Australia. All my friends are so impressed with all the things I've done. They can't believe I've done such an exciting kind of adventurous things. Which is what I wanted to show, the fact that disabled people don't have to sit in a bus and look out of the window they can do things like anybody else. If the facilities are there, and if the will of the local tourist board is there to make thinks accessible, it is possible.

La DO Empordà i les Rutes del vi de l'Empordà (Patronat de Turisme Girona Costa Brava) van convidar a Cupatges a una ruta en helicòpter per veure la riquesa de l'Alt Empordà des de l'aire. Calella beach, Maresme Catalonia
The Costa Maresme coastline in Catalonia runs all the way from Barcelona to Blanes, a distance of roughly 31 miles in total. Along the coast, you’ll find a large number of resorts and luxury Spain vacation rentals, as well as many different sights and attractions. This makes the Costa Maresme coastline a top holiday destination for visitors who love the stunning scenery that this part of Catalonia has to offer.
Catalonia is famous for its fine beaches and old, cobbled villages, but the Costa Maresme is probably more diverse and varied than you might think! Some locations like Barcelona are very busy and hectic with a definite city vibe, but there are also a lot of beautiful, historic fishing towns, too. Another great thing about the Costa Maresme is that it’s a prominent wine-growing region, so there are plenty of vineyards dotted around the area. One of the best places for wine is Alella, which has its own Denominació d’Origen...
Catalunya Casas
The beach at Calella is a public beach popular in the summer months with locals and tourists. The beach is just over 3 km long and its southern stretch is quieter than the central and northern portions. The beach has been consistently awarded the European quality Blue Flag.

CALELLA
CALELLA: Barcelona - Catalunya.
