Labna, Yukatan Mexico 800 AD
Labna is a Mesoamerican archaeological site and ceremonial center of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization, located in the Puuc Hills region of the Yucatán Peninsula. It is situated to the south of the large Maya site of Uxmal, in the southwest of the present-day state of Yucatán, Mexico. It was incorporated with Uxmal as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996.
The site is a comparatively small and compact one. Among its notable structures is a large two-storey 'palace' (El Palacio), which is one of the longest contiguous structures in the Puuc region at approximately 120 m (393.7 ft) in length. From the palace, a ceremonial road (sacbe) extends to an elaborately decorated gateway arch (El Arco). This structure is 3 m (9.8 ft) wide and 6 m high, with well-reserved bas-reliefs. The arch is not an entrance to the city, but rather is a passageway between public areas. Next to this gateway stands El Mirador, a pyramid-like structure surmounted by a temple. Also on the site is the Temple of the Columns.
The structural design and motifs of the site's buildings are in the Maya architecture regional style known as Puuc. This makes extensive use of well-cut stone forming patterns and depictions, including masks of the long-nosed rain-god Chaac. The site was built in the Late and Terminal Classic era. A date corresponding to AD 862 is inscribed in the palace.

Yucatán Peninsula Road Trip: Chichen Itza and other Mayan ruins, cave diving, and Mexican food!
I took a big road trip across Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. I visited the ruins sites of Chichen Itza, Ek' Balam, Uxmal, Kabah, Sayil, Xlapak, and Labná. I celebrated Mexican Independence Day in Mérida, and then I went scuba diving in a cave at the Dos Ojos cenote near Tulum.

Yucatan, Mexico
Located in southeastern Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula. Borders the states of Campeche and Quintana Roo. Yucatan has a hot and humid climate. During your stay, you can visit the state capital, Merida, where you can take a stroll down Paseo Montejo, the city's main avenue, which is lined with beautiful palaces, old buildings and 19th-century mansions. All that and much more makes the so-called White City one of the most visited destinations in the country. In the surrounding areas, you can visit old henequen haciendas, many of which have been converted into luxurious hotels with museums, restaurants and spa services.
You can also visit the town of Valladolid, where you'll find numerous sinkholes (ponds connected by underground streams), the ideal spots to go swimming or cave diving. There's also the magical town of Izamal, where you can check out the magnificent Ex-Convent of San Antonio de Padua, which has the largest atrium in the Americas.
In this state you can also visit the interesting Mayan archaeological zones, such as Uxmal, Kabah, Labna, Sayil, Dzibilchaltun and the impressive ceremonial grounds of Chichen Itza, which was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. Among the notable sights there are the Observatorio (Observatory), also known as the Caracol, the Juego de Pelota (Ball Court) and the Piramide de Kukulcan (Pyramid of Kukulcan), where you can witness the shadow image of a plumed serpent descend on the pyramid's stairs every spring equinox.
Yucatan also offers beautiful natural environments, such as Celestun, the natural habitat for hundreds of pink flamingoes, or Ria Lagartos, where you can go kayaking through the mangroves. During you visit, don't forget to try the Yucatan's famous regional cuisine.

tours:
Labná was a small mayan city in the late classic period, about 750-1000 a.c. It has the amazing typical architecture of the Puuc region with column styled patterns. The Gran Palacio, the Templo Mirador and the Arco Triunfal, all connected by an elevated sacbé street, are unique and well worth visiting.

Climbing The Mayapan Pyramid of Mayas, Yucatan, Mexico
Visit to check out great information about mysterious and fantastic places on earth. We climbed the Mayapan Pyramid which is also called the Castillo de Kukulcan . It is designed after the Chichen Itza. Mayapan means Flag of the Mayas or Banner of the Mayas .The original sound is just too windy so I replaced it with some other audio. The Mayapan ruins are much better as there is no one around and you are allowed to touch and climb on the structures. Mayapan was the last capital of the Mayas in the Yucatan peninsula. You can also plenty of structures like pillars, columns, an observatory, Frescos, Stucco Carvings and other buildings. Follow Me on:
