Sig Lonegren: Ancient Sites of The Netherlands and Scandinavia FULL LECTURE
Sig's bio here: - See interview here: - Both Scandinavia and The Netherlands have wonderful prehistoric remains that are in a some ways quite different, and in others very similar to the ones we have here in Britain. In Sweden, there are numerous vesica shaped stone ship settings, more old labyrinths than anywhere else on our planet, rune stones, and many (what we would call) round barrows. Holland has long low hunnabedden - a series of small dolmens all in a line, truncated cone hills like Silbury, and numerous round barrow fields. One thing these two countries share in common are dead straight lines associated with death. In Holland between the towns of Laren, Busum and Hilversum, there are dodweggen (death ways), dead straight paths that come in like spokes on a wheel from these surrounding towns to a cemetery in the centre. Sig's father was Swedish, and his wife Karin is Dutch, so he has an affinity for both countries.

Glastonbury Frost fair: Fire dancers.
This video was taken during the annual Frost Fair, in Glastonbury High-Street.
Has a sort of medieval feel about it; particularly with the music.
Such things as this must have been common place during the middle ages. There's nothing new about street artists.

Cannon Rock | Is Phaeton Rock a Perched Boulder of Ancient Dolmen in New England? | Megalithomania
Exploration of Cannon Rock (Phaeton Rock) in Lynn, Massachusetts. It is located north of Boston and could be thousands of years old. It might be a dolmen, like we find in Europe, or a carefully balanced rock, one of many in New England. But what is its purpose and why are giants connected to this area?

AN INDIAN TOMB UNEARTHED
The New York Times, December 21st 1891. Saugus, nr. Boston, Massachusetts
“An Indian sepulcher has been unearthed on “Fish Marsh”, in Saugus. The tomb was about seven feet below the surface and it contained the skeleton of a man of enormous proportions, which crumbled to dust upon exposure to the air. The body was buried in a sitting posture, facing the east. Beside the skeleton were found a pipe, a tomahawk blade an arrowhead, an ax and a cylindrical shaped stone. Near the grave an underground passage has been discovered. Excavations are being made for the purpose of exploring the passage. The discoveries were made by workmen who were excavating for building purposes.”
This fascinating account also has a ‘megalithic’ connection, as it is very close to Cannon Rock, a perched boulder that could also be a prehistoric dolmen. Joseph Henry, a 19th century scientist and the first director of the Smithsonian Institution, made a visit to what was then called Phaeton Rock in 1859. He wrote in a letter dated August 18th:
“It came from Canada and lodged in its present elevated position during what is called the drift period and was probably transported through the agency of ice.”
However, when looking at the delicately poised position of the thirty ton slab on three smaller stones, leaning precariously over a steep bluff, perhaps our friend from “Fish Marsh” may have been involved, as hundreds of legends in Britain and Europe propose that giants were involved with constructing these type of dolmens. Today, it is supported by wooden blocks and concrete in car tires. A similar, but larger dolmen resides at North Salem, New York, just outside the local fire station.
