-Vittskovle Castle, Sweden (Kristianstad Municipality, Scania); built in the mid-1500s, a finely preserved Renaissance castle
-Chateau de Duingt, France (Duingt) - originally built in the 11th century, restored around the 18th century; also known as Château de Châteauvieux or Chateau Ruphy
-Alhambra, Spain (Granada, Andalusia) - constructed as a small fortress 889; rebuilt 13th century and then later in a Renaissance style; also famous for Islamic architecture
-Chateau de Chillon, Switzerland (Lake Geneva [Lac Leman], Veytaux) - Romanesque style of architecture; earliest construction dates to 10th century; restoration occurred in 19th century
