Buddhist stupa in the Lachung monastery - Yumthang valley Sikkim
Yumthang Valley is a grazing pasture surrounded by the Himalayan mountains in the North Sikkim district of Sikkim, India. It is at an elevation of 3,575 metres (14,000) above msl at a distance of 150 km from the state capital Gangtok. It is also home to the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, and has over twenty-four species of the rhododendron, the state flower. A tributary of the river Teesta flows past the valley and the town of Lachung, the nearest inhabited centre. Yumthang is closed between December and March due to heavy snowfall. A forest rest house is the only permanent residence in the valley. During the spring months, the area blooms with rhododendrons, primulas, poppies, iris and other flora. During the summer months, villagers take their cattle to these heights to graze (a practice known as yaylag pastoralism). In view of increasing number of tourists, there is possibility of environmental degradation in near future. Skiing is conducted in the valley.
General practice is that, tourists travel from Gangtok to Lachung(the nearest village where accommodation is available) by booking a full vehicle or shared one and stay over night. Direct journey to Yumthang is not feasible as roads will be foggy and it becomes dark very early around 5.30 pm. It takes around 2 hrs from Lachung and people leave in morning after tea/snacks around 7am. Return journey will start from Yumthang after 2-3 hrs of visiting and can reach hotel back by 1pm. Generally return journey to Gangtok starts on same day and can be reached at 8pm.

Solo Girl Travels To North Sikkim | Lachen, Lachung, Yumthang Valley and Gurudongmar Lake
This year I ticked-off another state of North-East India, Sikkim. Undoubtedly with its spell-binding beauty, this fully-organic state of India is overflowing with unresponsible tourism. We can bring change and harm nature a little less. Watch the video and decide for yourself. :)
Places visited:-
Lachen - A town in North Sikkim district, located at an elevation of 2,750 metres. Its name means big pass. The town forms the base to the Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake.
Lachung - A mountain village close to the Tibetan border in North Sikkim. It's divided by the Lachung River. The village is home to the 19th-century Buddhist Lachung Monastery.
Yumthang Valley - a nature sanctuary with river, hot springs, yaks and grazing pasture on rolling meadows surrounded by the Himalayan mountains in the North Sikkim.
Gurudongmar Lake - one of the highest lakes in the world and in India, located at an altitude of 17,800 ft. It is considered sacred in some Indian religions.
P.S. My complaint with Sikkim is not about its natural beauty, its diversity and its kind & helpful people. My complaint is about travellers who flout the ethics of responsible travelling and about the tourism department of state that turns a blind eye to the oncoming destruction.
YOU please be a responsible inhabitant of the world and avoid ruining the natural (as well as city) landscapes.
Last but not the least, I know at some places the audio is low. Trying to improve, please bear with me. ????

Gangtok, Lachung, Yumthang Valley, Zero Point.
We started from Lachung at 6 am on 27th May towards Yumthang Valley. The scenic beauty of both side of the road was very beautiful. It was a life time experience, though the road was quite bad and dangerous . We arrived at Yumthang Valley at 8 pm and have our breakfast there bread and jam and momo.
Then we started again for Zero point that was more 1 hours journey from Yumthang Valley. It is located at 15000 ft. above the sea level and we get little snowfall there and a lots of ice. As it was located at very high altitude so the Oxygen level was very low and
it was very hard to breadth.
