Liverpool City - استكشف مدينة ليفربول
Liverpool has attractions littered throughout the city and more museums and galleries than any other UK city outside of the capital. Each attraction is leading in its own right, but there seems to be a few ‘big hitters’ that everyone wants to know about.
We’ve got museums, galleries, unique historic buildings, arts centres and sport too!
Now there’s one thing that a trip to Liverpool just isn’t complete without, and that’s a trip on the ‘Ferry cross the Mersey’ – the views from the Mersey Ferries River Explorer Tour offer some of the absolute best views of Liverpool’s world famous waterfront. If you check far enough in advance, you might want to book on a special evening cruise that take place in the summer.
Stop off at Spaceport for all things intergalactic or the U-Boat Story for a fascinating insight into the World War II submarine.
If you’re a creature of culture, then you’ll need to make time for these SEVEN museums – yes, seven. National Museums Liverpool boasts World Museum, Merseyside Maritime Museum, Walker Art Gallery, Lady Lever Art Gallery, International Slavery Museum, Sudley House and Museum of Liverpool - the world’s first national museum devoted to the history of a regional city.
The Albert Dockis one of the UK's finest heritage attractions – a walk around the quayside will take visitors passed little sweet stores, world-class museums including Tate Liverpooland The Beatles Story – yes, all things Beatles – and a number of bars and restaurants. For more Beatles, the Magical Mystery Tour leaves from the Albert Dock and takes fans to the famous sites of Strawberry Field and Penny Lane and ends at the Cavern Club. With the National Trust, you can even step inside Lennon and McCartney’s childhood homes. For even MORE of the Fab Four, head to the Magical Beatles Museum on Mathew Street to see over 300 pieces of Beatles related memorabilia.
For more music but less Beatles, you’ll want to wander over to the Pier Head and the British Music Experience that explores popular British Music from 1940 to present day.
Now, we mentioned historic buildings; they’re everywhere in Liverpool. But you’ll definitely want to add Liverpool Cathedral to your list. It’s Britain’s largest cathedral and a truly breath-taking place. If you can, book onto a tower tour and explore the highest vaults of the building – in summer you can catch the sunset from the tower.
Just hidden off Church Street is the Bluecoat; a contemporary arts centre that resides in a 300-year-old building, offering a programme of art, literature, music and dance. There’s also a lovely little garden outside and several local businesses there too.
Witness an engineering masterpiece that is the Mersey tunnels with Mersey Tunnel Tours, right beneath the depths of the Mersey River.
In Liverpool, we have more parks than Paris. Apart from being a bustling city, we have an amazing amount of green spaces. Sefton Park Palmhouse is the jewel in the crown of one of the city’s most-loved green spaces.
Across the water in Wirral is Port Sunlight Village, a beautiful chocolate box village, built in the 19th century solely for the workers at the Sunlight Soap factory workers. Step into Port Sunlight Museum to experience what it was like to live and work in the village.
Now, we've given you a lot to think about there!
Litherland Sports Park
Active Sefton's Litherland Sports Park is one of the first facilities in the country to offer an innovative scheme to house cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation NHS services relocated from Aintree Hospital.
LSP is a well-used and much-loved facility which has become a focal point for the community of Litherland. The Centre is home to a number of Football teams along with a Football Academy, the Sefton Cycling Academy, Athletic Clubs and Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation NHS Service.
LSP is home to a 400m, six-lane athletics track with a centre arena, floodlit synthetic turf pitch, adult and junior grass football pitches and training pitches with team changing/shower rooms. Also at Litherland is our incredible Active Sefton fitness suite, superb changing facilities, a training room, meeting and conference facilities, an activity studio, GP referral and health consultation suites and a computerised personal health & fitness monitoring system called 'Fitlinxx'.
Torrential rain and a burst brook: all in day's work
Our engineers are working on a challenging sewer job in Poynton, Cheshire this week (w/c June 13), made more complicated by torrential rain and a local brook which burst its banks over the weekend.
Meanwhile, our teams are out and about across the North West to support customers and keep the network flowing, as heavy rain continues to batter the region.
Building the National Wildflower Centre
A very brief video showing some of the work involved when the 'Visitor Centre' buildings of the National Wildflower Centre were built in 1999. Part of the centre uses the original Victorian Stable block and Walled garden. The video also shows the opening by Lady Sainsbury in 2000. The visitor attraction officially opened to the public in 2001, with funding from the Millennium Commission, and is set in the 35 acre Court Hey Park, approximately 5 miles from Liverpool city centre. The NWC building by Hodder Associates provides a 160-metre long rooftop walkway and is a regional RIBA award winner.

Kids with Guns: UK's Army Cadet Force (Full Length)
In a new episode of Rule Britannia, VICE joins the UK's Army Cadet Force and asks what the youth club can give British kids who may not have a lot else.
The Army Cadet Force has over 46,000 cadets from the ages of 12 to 18, training in 1,700 detachments all over the country. The super low-cost club evenings and training camps equip teenagers with discipline and skills in everything from orienteering and military knowledge to weaponry, first aid, and sports.
Smartly uniformed and proudly representing Queen and Country, the young cadets are taught to embody British values. The theory that cadet activities could keep youth on the right track has seen huge government funding allocated to expand the cadets by next year.

Check for a waste carrier's license first to avoid a fine
Did you know that if you hire someone to remove waste from your property, you could be fined if they fly-tip the waste?
It is your responsibility to check that any tradesperson you hire arranges for a registered carrier of waste to deal with any waste at the end of a project. For example, they could hire a skip or, if they intend to dispose of the waste themselves they must have a waste carriers licence.
If they do not have one, you should not use them.
If your waste is fly-tipped, you could be fined.
I’m a tradesperson. How do I get a waste carriers licence?
It’s easy to apply for a waste carriers licence online. The licences are issued by the Environment Agency. Apply online using the button below.

Police outside Liverpool flat where man was found dead - Daily Mail
Two people have been arrested over a man who was found with fatal head injuries after allegedly falling from a fourth floor balcony. Officers are still at the scene in Liverpool city centre this morning, after a man in his 30s, named locally as James Balshaw (pictured), was found lying inside a gated courtyard yesterday evening. An area below the luxury Elysian fields complex in Colquitt Street, Liverpool, is still cordoned off with a green tarpaulin sheet covering a car and another hanging over the fourth floor balcony.
