The Lagarfljót Giant Worm: Iceland's Loch Ness Monster?
The Lagarfljót worm is an Icelandic lake cryptid which is purported to live in the lake Lagarfljót in the town of Egilsstaðir. Sightings have been logged since 1345 and continue into the 21st century, including a 2012 video supposedly showing the creature swimming.
An origin of the creature is given in Jón Árnason's collection of Icelandic folktales and legends published in 1862.

We take a look at some footage of the famous Lagarfljót Worm of the lake Lagarfljótsormur in the town of Egilsstaðir, Iceland. A giant serpent creature seen multiple times. In this footage we see it slithering across the icy waters. Is this just debris? Or something more.

The Iceland Worm Monster rare video - unknown to mankind
The Lagarfljót worm or simply Iceland Worm Monster ( or Iceland's Loch Ness Monster ) is an Icelandic lake cryptid. The worm is purportedly located in Lagarfljót Lake, a freshwater, below-sea-level, glacial-fed body of water in Egilsstaðir.The water visibility is incredibly poor as a result of siltation, and the creature--if it does exist--has not been scientifically studied.
Sightings have been consistently logged since 1345. There are many stories about kynjaskepnur, that is, strange animals or unknown phenomena, in Lagarfljót.
The worm-like creature is presumed to be longer than a football field, or 300 feet (91 m), and has been seen coiled near the shore by countless eyewitnesses.
According to reports, it has been spotted in both water and dry land. It is believed that it can slither onto land.

RÚV informed me that this video was taken by a farmer called Hjörtur Kjerúlf
Hjörtur Kjerúlf captured the giant, icy snake swimming in the Jökulsá í Fljótsdal river, which empties into Lake Lagarfljót. The footage shows a crocodilian-like creature or a giant snake skimming the water surface of a frozen lake. But Reptiles in cold climates?

18.5 km solo paddle in East Iceland from Egilsstaðir on Lake Lagarfljót to Eiðavatn.
Then I dragged the boat 200m to Lake Eiðavatn and paddled there.
Got heavy headwinds so the trip was quite a workout.

We're here in Iceland on a 9 day vacation/filming/adventure trip with son Mark his friend Josh, and Kelly & Marcus of Skylight Films to do some 2nd unit filming for an upcoming children's movie Good Kid Bad Kid. We did a shoot for the movie right here by the lake, next to the little building you see by the water, with myself, Mark & Josh.

Flight Across Iceland (2000)
28th of December 2000, me, my father and Gunnar flew across Iceland, 2 hours flight to visit a farmer at his home. We stopped for two hours and we had lunch. The day is short at that time of the year but the weather was excellent. In 2000 the price for gas was cheap and we could do such a trip at low cost for enjoyment. Today this trip would cost 500 dollars just gas.

As with the Scottish lake Loch Ness, a cryptid serpent, called Lagarfljótsormurinn by locals, is believed to live in the depths of Lagarfljót.

It could be easily understood why the area was used for training by the Apollo 11 crew as Earth's nearest approximation to the moon.
