Lagodekhi National Park Georgia
We went trekking in the Lagodekhi National Park in the far north east of Georgia, close to the border with Dagestan and Azerbaijan.
The Lagodekhi Protected Area is a huge area of unspoiled natural beauty that encompasses the park.
From the edge of Lagodekhi town, the park extends through the forest to a higher alpine region and the snow capped mountains that are the natural border between Georgia, Russia and Azerbaijan.
It is a beautiful region with a vast array of flora and fauna including brown bears, lynx, wolves and the caucasian tur. We only skimmed the surface of this huge area. Trekking in the end of may, there had been a lot of snow melt and heavy rain that had washed away the bridges so we couldn't complete our hike to the Black Grouse waterfall as the bridges had been washed away.
We were told by the very informative people at the park information centre at the entrance that the bridges would be rebuilt and the trail would be usable by the beginning of the summer season.
It's a great place to trek. It doesn't cost anything to enter the park and there are a selection of trails to chose from. Ours was the shortest, a 4-5 hour hike in total. There is also a very interesting 3 day hike up to black rock lake on the Dagestan border for the adventurous. You can hire all the equipment you need from the park office and trek independently if you wish.

Lagodekhi National Park - Georgia
Lagodekhi Nature reserve, also called Lagodekhi National Park, is located in the famous district of Kaheti, Georgia (Europe)
This Nature reserve is located on the southern slopes of the Caucasus and bordered with Azerbaijan and Dagestan (Rusia). If you are carrying a cellphone from Azrbaijan, you can even receive signal while you are hiking here.
Lagodekhi Nature reserve was the first nature protected area in Georgia. This occured while Georgia was still under the Russian Empire.
In this Nature Reserve, you can find waterfalls, glacial lakes, and sulphur springs. As well as the best representation of caucaus mountains and green forest Georgia has to offer.

Hike to Lagodekhi National Park part 1.
Ninoskhevi Waterfall Hike, Lagodekhi Georgia
This was an 8 km hike climbing over 500 meters deep in the massive mountain gorges of the Lagodekhi Protected Reserve in the Greater Caucasus mountains of Georgia. We were treated with a powerful, 50 meter waterfall.

One of the most important biodiversity places in Georgia and the entire Caucasian region is Lagodekhi Protected area.
Fauna
In Lagodekhi Protected Areas deiverse fauna is represented, here are 126 species of animals, 4-fish, 5-amphibians, 12-reptiles, 150 – birds and 53 species of mammals.
From Mammals there are the East Caucasian Tur, the Red Deer, the Chamois, the Brown Bear, the Wolf, the Lynx and others. It

Lagodekhi is in the far east of Georgia and is there nearest town (only 4km) to the main board crossing with Azerbaijan. It is also the main town for the Lagodekhi National Park and Nature Reserve nestled at the foot of the Greater Caucasus Mountains.

I was gifted a GoPro head strap by a kind American cycling couple and this was my first time trying it out. Needless to say I realise it is not the best for when walking and don't worry I won't be using it again but thought I would include the footage anyway.
