ITALY, EXPLORING spectacular LAKE GARDA ???? and the historic VENETIAN TOWN of RIVA
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit the spectacular Lake Garda which is the largest lake in Italy. It is a popular holiday location and is located in northern Italy, about halfway between Brescia and Verona, and between Venezia and Milano. Glaciers formed this alpine region at the end of the last Ice Age. The lake and its shoreline are divided between the provinces of Verona (to the south-east), Brescia (south-west), and Trentino (north). The name Garda, which the lake has been seen referred to in documents dating to the eighth century, comes from the town of the same name. It is the evolution of the Germanic word warda, meaning place of guard or place of observation.
We will visit Riva del Garda which is located at the north-western corner of Lake Garda, approximately 70 metres (230 feet) above sea level. The town is located at the southern edge of the Italian Alps, near the Dolomites. It is bordered by Monte Rocchetta to the west and Monte Brione, 376 metres (1,234 ft) above sea level, to the east. East of Riva del Garda is the village Torbole, bordered by Monte Baldo.
Riva del Garda belonged to the Republic of Venice, the Bishopric of Trent, the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy and later (1815–1918) to the Austro-Hungarian empire. During the Third Italian War of Independence, Riva del Garda was an important supply base for the Austrian navy and was only town on the lake to be taken by Italian forces. Since the end of World War I (3 November 1918), Riva del Garda, with the rest of the Trentino, became part of the Kingdom of Italy.
Italy, a European country with a long Mediterranean coastline, has left a powerful mark on Western culture and cuisine. Its capital, Rome, is home to the Vatican as well as landmark art and ancient ruins. Other major cities include Florence, with Renaissance masterpieces such as Michelangelo’s David and Brunelleschi's Duomo; Venice, the city of canals; and Milan, Italy’s fashion capital.

Visit the Island of Certosa in Venice Italy
Only one boat stop away from Venice, lies the island of La Certosa. A monastic island under the Venetian Republic, which became a military installation under Napoleonic rule, Certosa is now entirely dedicated to outdoor recreation.
On the island there are a Marina and shipyard, one small hotel with a bar and a restaurant, nature trails, a small beach and a large park.
Certosa can be reached by private boat, water taxi and the public vaporetto line 4.

SUP in Venice Stand Up and Gondola paddle tour
Paddling in Venice is a one in a lifetime experience. Eliana from SUP in Venice arrange a SUP tour of the canals and a gondola ride for our family group, what a great adventure!
The Gondolier lesson and gondola ride were organized through the Cavana Tintoretto Venice Boat Tours. We used inflatable SUP's, I was on the 10'6 x 34 Blue Planet Multi Tasker Air model. After paddling, we had a traditional Venetian style lunch in the historical boat house, then a walking tour of this beautiful city. This was a once in a lifetime experience, I highly recommend this fantastic SUP adventure!

Things To Do In Lake Garda, Trentino, Italy
Garda Trentino isn’t necessarily the first place you think of visiting in Italy! Rome, Florence and Milan might get to top billing for many-a-traveller but Lake Garda, especially the area around the Trentino region of Italy - Garda Trentino, is without a doubt one of the best places to visit in Italy!
For starters, Trentino as a whole looks and feels like nowhere else you’ll visit in Italy! (See full blog post here - HandLuggageOnly.co.uk/Trentino) It’s just such an amazing part of Italy! Then there’s all the food and fun to be had here (and I’m just gonna guess here and say you probably don’t need much convincing when it comes to Italian food)!
Long story short, if you’re planning on heading to Lake Garda - here’s what to get up to and a few places you definitely have to visit!
See all the details to help you plan (and a whole lotta photos) in our blog posts here -

Lake Garda - Our trip in 2016 to Peschiera, includes day trip to Gardaland & Venice
Vlog of our trip to Lake Garda. Includes a day trip to Venice, coach trip around the lake stopping off at Lazise, Malcesine, Riva Del Garda, Limone and Desenzano. Also includes a day in Gardaland.
Fantastic holiday, stayed in Bella Italia Bungalows in Peschiera. Went to Peschiera a couple of times. Beautiful place with plenty of bars/restaurants and shops, just a short walk from Bella Italia. Would recommend all of the trips we went on, and were very good value through the Thompsons rep.
Food was amazing, EVERYWHERE. Literally, we didn't have a bad meal anywhere. Don't drink beer, it works out about the same price per cl to drink wine. No contest really!
Hope you enjoy the video, took alot of footage and time to make. Been teaching myself adobe premiere pro and after effects for a while now, and slowly getting better.

All filmed on a Samsung Galaxy S6 - Used various settings which I won't do next time as it causes problems in rendering. It's a little choppy in places this is due to the change in frame rates. I recoreded some at 60fps and some at 30, some at 4k some at 1080. Tip - DONT DO THIS, it's a frikkin nightmare when it comes to finding the right rendering setting, and causes audio problems. Well, at least I learned something lol.
