Heartwave Beach Walk QLD Flood Fundraiser Currumbin Gold Coast 2011
The Heartwave Beach Walk 2011 hit Currumbin Beach on Australia's Gold Coast February 12, the weekend before Valentine's Day, to send a visual message of love and support to all those who had been affected by the catastrophic Queensland Floods and Cyclone Yasi. The two had left a trail of devastation that had seen 3/4 of QLD declared a disaster zone.
Bringing together around 500 people and raising over $5,500 for the QLD Premier's Flood Relief Appeal, Heartwave gave people on the Gold Coast an outlet to show their solidarity for those who had lost so much. A group of 36 residents from Grantham, one of the State's hardest hit regions, were able to attend the event and see firsthand the outpouring of support, and the event was also attended by Queensland icons like surfers Joel Parkinson and Wayne Rabbit Bartholomew, ironmen Zane Holmes, Ky Hurst and ironwoman Hayley Bateup.
A special thanks goes out to all those who attended or volunteered, and our generous supporters GCCC, Billabong, Havaianas, Cool Ridge Water, Kelloggs, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Currumbin SLSC, Stryker Media, Fast Proof Press, Hogarth Studios, Happy Days Diaries and Soul Arch Media.
