The Hakone Sightseeing Cruise offers pirate style sightseeing boats that sail around Lake Ashinoko, a popular spot in Hakone. There are three boats: Royal II, Victory, and Vasa, and passengers can board the cruise at any of the three ports along the edge of the lake. Those ports are Hakonemachi-ko, Motohakone-ko, or Togendai-ko. We recommend the cruise that leaves from Motohakone-ko, as you can view Mt. Fuji, a large torii gate, and Lake Ashinoko all at once. Passengers can enjoy majestic views on sunny days, when the contrast between the blue sky and the sparkling surface of the lake is very beautiful.

Hakone New Pirate Ship Queen Ashinoko Japan - Lake Ashi Cruise
I had a heat-fluttering cruise experience on the new pirate ship “QUEEN ASHINOKO” just in service. The gold body of the ship that stands out vividly against the azure colors of Ashinoko, and the interior is classic design adorned with wood materials from floor to ceiling. I enjoyed the view of Lake Ashi in the first class cabin which is more graceful than ever before.
The probability of seeing Mt.Fuji is low in summer. However, the green trees on the lake shore are very beautiful. The repainted red torii is in beautiful contrast with the green trees. If you want to see Mt.Fuji, you should come in winter.

Enjoy the experience of Cruise. The Hakone Sightseeing Cruise runs between Moto-Hakone Port, Hakone-machi Port and Togendai Port. From Lake Ashi, passengers can enjoy Hakone's wonderful mountain-ringed scenery.
Hakone, in Japan's Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park west of Tokyo, is a mountainous town known for hot springs resorts and Mt. Fuji views. It also encompasses Hakone Jinja, a Shinto shrine with a red “torii” gate; Lake Ashi, which can be toured by boat; and the boiling sulphur springs of Owakudani valley, seen from the Hakone Ropeway cable car.
Lake Ashi, also referred to as Hakone Lake or Ashinoko Lake, is a scenic lake in the Hakone area of Kanagawa Prefecture in Honshū, Japan.

Best way to spend a day in Hakone | Hakone free pass - Round Course
Hakone (箱根) is part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, less than one hundred kilometers from Tokyo.
Famous for hot springs, natural beauty and the view across Lake Ashinoko of nearby Mount Fuji, Hakone is one of the most popular destinations among Japanese and international tourists looking for a break from Tokyo.
The Hakone Free Pass by Odakyu Railways is a discount pass for exploring Hakone. It provides unlimited use of Odakyu-affiliated buses, trains, boats, cablecars and ropeways in the Hakone area and discounted admission to selected tourist attractions on two or three consecutive days. Optionally, the pass also includes a discounted round trip from Tokyo's Shinjuku Station.
popular and attractive way of visiting Hakone is by circling the region with five different means of transport (train, cablecar, ropeway, boat and bus), using the Hakone Free Pass.
The round course outlined below starts and ends in Hakone-Yumoto and circles the Hakone region in the counter-clockwise direction. Of course, it is also possible to follow the course in the opposite direction or to start and end somewhere different.
If you leave early in the morning, it is possible to completed the Hakone round course in a one day trip from Tokyo. However, we recommend allocating two days and one night to your visit, preferably with a stay at a ryokan with hot spring baths.
Hakone Tozan Railway
Hakone-Yumoto to Gora
35 minutes, departures every 10-20 minutes
The Hakone Tozan Railway winds itself through a narrow, densely wooded valley, gaining more than 300 meters in altitude. Several hot springs and the Hakone Open Air Museum are located along its route.
Hakone Tozan Cablecar
Gora to Sounzan
10 minutes, departures every 20 minutes
The Hakone Art Museum and Gora Park are located in Gora along the cablecar route.
Hakone Ropeway
Sounzan to Togendai
30 minutes, constant departures
Nice views of Mount Fuji and the national park can be enjoyed from the Hakone Ropeway when visibility is good. A transfer of ropeways is required at Owakudani, where travelers can observe volcanic activities.

Togendai to Hakone-machi
30 minutes, departures every 30-60 minutes
Nice views of Lake Ashi, the surrounding wooded mountains and Mount Fuji can be enjoyed from the pirate ship shaped boats when visibility is good. Most ships operate from Togendai to Hakone-machi and then continue to Moto-Hakone.
On foot
Hakone-machi to Moto-Hakone
20-30 minutes
The Checkpoint Museum, Detached Palace Garden and the Ancient Cedar Avenue are located along this attractive walk from Hakone-machi to Moto-Hakone. Alternatively you could continue to Moto-Hakone by boat or take a bus.
Hakone Tozan Bus (line H or K)
Moto-Hakone to Hakone-Yumoto
35 minutes, departures every 15-20 minutes
Visit Hakone Shrine in Moto-Hakone and then return by bus to Yumoto, possibly with a stop at Yunessun along the way (by bus line H). Alternatively, you could walk a section of the Old Tokaido and catch a bus from the Amazake Chaya or Hatajuku back to Yumoto (by bus line K).

A One-Day Trip from Tokyo to Hakone - by TAXI ????????
Did you know that you can actually use a taxi for sightseeing? My friends and I hired a taxi and went on a trip from Tokyo to Hakone – a beautiful touristic location near Mt. Fuji!
In the morning, one of km Taxi’s cabs will pick you up at your hotel in Tokyo at your preferred time. When booking the Japanese Culture Experience Tour in Hakone you can actually choose where you want to go within the Tokyo and Hakone area. It is also possible to do some sightseeing in Tokyo first – if it’s within the 8 hours of your trip. We decided to go to some tourist attractions in Tokyo: Zojoji Temple, Tokyo Tower, and Atago Shrine.
After a great morning in Tokyo, we left for Hakone! After arriving at Lake Ashinoko in Hakone, we changed into a kimono (you have to pay an extra 3.000yen). We were able to shoot beautiful photos in Hakone wearing a kimono – a once in a lifetime experience – which is highly recommended!
At Hakone, we visited Hakone Sekisho (a former toll gate), Hakone Shrine and the Hakone Venetian Glass Museum. For lunch, we visited a delicious bakery cafe overlooking beautiful Lake Ashinoko. Hakone has a lot to offer. The fee for the trip includes 10 instant photos as a service – and it’s very hard to choose were to actually take them…
The driver was not only driving but also guided us in English. He was a very polite and friendly gentleman. It is surprisingly hard to get in a car when wearing a kimono. Our driver had a small footstool prepared to help us get inside. That was very nice – and very Japanese!
The taxi fare for the one-day trip is fixed, meaning: the more people join, the cheaper it becomes for everyone. (Up to 6 people can go on this trip)
The wonderful thing about this plan is that it is very relaxing. You don’t have to worry about trains and the time. It is perfect for families with children and for people with a handicap. We were able to spend a stress-free time at Tokyo and Hakone and made a lot of great memories.

Owakudani (Hakone, Japan) Visit
Owakudani is a station along the Hakone Ropeway between Sounzan and Togendai. Sounzan is accessible from Hakone-Yumoto by Hakone Tozan Railway and cablecar with a transfer at Gora Station. Togendai is on the shores of Lake Ashinoko and is connected by boat with Moto-Hakone and Hakone-machi.

1. Shinkansen from Tokyo to Odawara Station (3,200 yen)
2. Purchase Hakone FreePass at Odawara Station (4,000 yen - valid for 2 days).
3. From Odawara Station, take the train to Hakone-Yotomot Station (10 mins)
4. Take Hakone Tozen line to Gora (40 mins)
5. Take the cable car to Sounzan (10 mins)
6. Take the gondola down to Togendai. (28 mins)
7. Take the cruise boat for Lake Ashi which departs every 40 mins. (50 mins)
8. At Hakonemachi, you can explore the Hakone Checkpoint / Museum, bush walk, etc.
9. Take the Hakone Tozan Bus to Hakone-Yotomot Station. (50 mins)
