Lake Bangweulu - Where Sky and Water Meet
Located in Luapula Province in northern Zambia, Lake Bangweulu where the water sky meets the sky is a massive fresh water lake that looks more like an inland sea than a lake. I filmed this short introduction along a small sand beach just outside of the small town of Samfya.
While the lake is gorgeous, the sunset was one of the most incredible sunsets i've ever seen. You can find several photos of the actual sunset here:
One of the things that made the sunset so memorable was the combination of smoke, water, and sky. The result was a completely blended/obscured horizon. The only way you could tell what was water and what was sky was by looking for the outline of small boats.
You can learn more about Lake Bangweulu and my time in Zambia on where I write about the experience.

The proposed area for the establishment of Chikuni Community Partnership Park is situated in Bangweulu Wetlands. Bangweulu is a local word meaning where the water meets the sky reflecting the flat open landscape of this huge wetlands system. The wetlands are often described as Africa's last great wilderness, similar in size to Botswana's Okavango Delta. Situated about 40km to the north of Kasanka National Park, the Bangweulu ecosystem stretches northwards to include Lake Bangweulu and other adjoining smaller lakes, floodplains as well as islands and woodlands above flood levels.

Bangweulu wetlands
The Bangweulu wetlands in a small corner of north-eastern Zambia, is a community-owned protected area and one of the most extraordinary wetlands in Africa. The park is managed as a partnership between the community and African Parks, a South African based conservation organisation. The 50|50 team goes on a search through the swampy maze to find the illusive and rare prehistoric-looking shoebill. During their adventure, they are overwhelmed by the amazing biodiversity of the area with an incredible number of bird species, large herds of endemic Black Lechwe stretching from horizon to horizon and breathtaking scenery. There are surprises around every corner, including a large population of local people who live in relative harmony with their environment.

SONTA EPOWABOMBA CHILUBI ISLAND
Straw Village in Samfya, Zambia
These people are Fishermen along the beachfront of this Lake Bangweulu, in Zambia. I was telling them about Jesus, when a snake came out of nowhere onto the mat we were sitting; others were sitting around me, but the snake headed directly to me, they all ran but I could not move fast enough, but the Lord turned the snake away from me, Praise God. After seeing this theVillagers gave their lives to the Lord. Glory to God! It reminds you of what happened with Paul on one of his journeys. sogmw.webs.com
