Japan - Lake Biwa & Biwako Valley (2019)
In this video I fly to Japan and explore Lake Biwa, the Biwako Valley, and also give some information about the Japanese religion including Buddhism and Shintoism. I also play golf on a famous golf course and eat a popular Japanese dish called Shabu Shabu.
Lake Biwa is a large freshwater lake in Shiga Prefecture, northeast of Kyoto. It’s known for its abundant fish population, migratory water birds and wetland regions. Its shoreline is home to resorts and beaches like Ōmi-Maiko
Shinto (神道 Shintō) or kami-no-michi (as well as other names) is the traditional religion of Japan that focuses on ritual practices to be carried out diligently to establish a connection between present-day Japan and its ancient past.
Japanese writings do not refer to a unified religion, but rather to a collection of native beliefs and mythology. Shinto today is the religion of public shrines devoted to the worship of a multitude of spirits, essences or gods (kami)

Lake Biwa (Biwa-ko), Largest Lake in Japan, Shiga Prefecture
Lake Biwa is a naturally formed freshwater lake in Japan and it is located in Shiga Prefecture. It is the main source of fresh water and other nourishments for most residents of the Kansai Region. It is considered as one of the oldest lakes in the world and has been mentioned in the ancient Japanese literature. One of the cruise boats on Lake Biwa is named Michigan to celebrate the fact the city of Otsu has close ties with State of Michigan (Lansing in Michigan is considered as a sister state of Otsu).
We visited Lake Biwa!
Thanks to Prince Hotels for our hotel room!

(Our favorite fall light up is still at Korankei in Aichi, though.)
There are a lot of amazing places around Lake Biwa (it's the largest lake in Japan BY FAR), and Otsu is only a couple minutes from Kyoto by train. We were offered a boat ride, rental bikes, and other things through our hotel but didn't have the time to take them up on the offer. :( Unfortunately this was a short trip for us but we still plan on going back and spending more time exploring later on!

Exploring Shiga, Japan|Day 61 - Shiga
Shiga is a Japanese prefecture to the east of Kyoto, on the island of Honshu. It contains the enormous freshwater Lake Biwa, whose shoreline is home to the regional capital, Otsu, the cities of Hikone, Sakamoto and Nagahama, beaches and holiday resorts. To the northeast, 4,000-meter Mount Ibuki can be climbed for far-reaching views over the water.

Explore Shiga With Me! 滋賀県大津市で24時間過ごしてみた!
Hey guys! Long time no see!
I recently took a trip to Shiga Prefecture to check out some of the new English-friendly programs/experiences they've developed there. It was my first time in the Shiga/Lake Biwa area, and the weather was not so great, but I thought I'd take you on my 24 hour trip with me. It's a bit of a long video so sit down and get comfy!
Otsu City is just a short way from Kyoto by train, so it's a good option for a quick getaway from the busy tourist traffic. Take a break from busy/hectic by cycling through the Japanese countryside, learning to make traditional chicken sukiyaki lunch, checking out the massive Lake Biwa, or treating yourself to some amazing teppan-yaki steak at Matsukiya.
Sharla also made it out to the area so you can check out her video here:

Music : Susan Osborn - At the shore.
Lyrics
I walk at dawn by the seashore
And watch the night turn to day
The sound of the surf and the salty air
Washes sadness from my soul
The sound of crying seabirds
The sea of sparkling blue
The waves return to the shore again
As I return to you
Retracing my steps there at evening light
The sun slips into the sea
Pale golden, blue and diamond stars
Fill the silence in my heart
Soft waves laughing at my feet
Warm winds caress my face
The boats turn toward the shore again
As I return to you

The shops constructed from the end of the Edo Era in the 19th century into the Meiji Era created a well-organized area that has been nationally designated as an Important Preservation District of Historic Buildings. [JAPAN VLOG #3] Travel With Yui : SHIGA PREFECTURE
* An 11- DAYS- TRIP TO JAPAN *
We spent half day of day 3 in Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan with the cute sea creatures, didn't forget to get the Rikuro Ojisan's cheese cake at Osaka Station before taking off to our next stop, KYOTO!! We reached our homestay in Sakamoto late and couldn't go according to our plan to visit Kibune Shrine :( Spent the rest of the day to explore around the peaceful village and made friend with the friendly villagers. Had dinner at a nearby restaurant.
We got up early the next day and headed to Hikone first, visited Gokoku Shrine and Hikone Castle, went to Omihachiman and experienced the Hachimanbori Meguri, were surprised that everything in Omihachiman closed before 5pm but lucky enough to find an opened restaurant Hatsuyuki Shokudo. We really enjoyed our late lunch/ early dinner there, prepared by a friendly and nice japanese family. We highly recommend for those who plan to visit Omihachiman to try out the food there!!
