We drove down to Lake Cave Margaret river after staying the night in the Margaret River Tourist Park in the Margaret River region of Western Australia. This little cave is really worth a visit. Despite the 300 or so steps each way, it is not too difficult to get into. The cave itself is small but spectacular.

WE WENT CAVING - Margaret River - Lake Cave - Travel Australia
Another cool activity to do in Western Australia is to visit one of the caves and go caving. We went to Lake Cave and also visit the perfect surfer beach Gnarabup and Prevelly Beach. Needless to say we had another awesome day in Australia.

This week Kierran and I explore Margaret River's Beautiful Jewel Cave and the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse before leaving Augusta to head for Dunsborough
Margaret River's Jewel Cave is the biggest cave in the Margaret River Region and has some incredible stalagtite and stagactite formations. For anyone thinking about ticking Jewel Cave off their Margaret River bucketlist this video is a must watch!
After Jewel Cave we check out the beautiful Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse. The Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse on mainland Australia and is absolutely breath-taking to stand beneath. It also marks the point where the Indian Ocean and the Southern Ocean meet!

Lake Cave Margaret River
Lake Cave is, to put it simply, a mirrored wonderland. Home to the suspended table a spectacular crystal decoration weighing several tonnes that hangs from the ceiling, almost touching the waters of the lake. It is thought that this may be the only decoration of its kind in the world. Lake Cave is the most 'actively dripping' cave in the south-west, and it's the only cave on the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge that has a permanent lake. The cave is one of the deepest on the ridge, with entry access through a spectacular doline - a large hole in the earth's surface. There is an interpretative centre onsite, designed to help you learn about the formation and history of caves within the region, throughout Australia and around the world.

Following the cave we visit some local food places including the Fudge Factory and Margaret River Chocolate Company.

From Margaret River to Caves Road, visiting Jewel, Lake, and Mammoth caves, and the next day Ngilgi cave.
PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA - LAKE CAVE
Lake Cave is a one of the most beautiful limestone caves in Western Australia. Inside the cave a tranquil lake reflects delicate formations that will take your breath away. Lake Cave is the most 'actively dripping' cave. A spectacular suspended table, a crystal decoration weighing several tonnes that hangs from the ceiling, almost touching the waters of the lake. The cave is one of the deepest on the ridge, with entry access through a spectacular doline - a large hole in the earth's surface. There are approx. 300 steps down into it and the same back up but it is worth the effort. Once you start walking down, you will come across centuries old Karri trees, some over 20 stories tall. The limestone cliffs are equally stunning- huge weathered stalactites covered with spider webs giving the sense of ancient times.

This week Kierran and I explore some more of the stunning Margaret River and get lost underground in Giants Cave.
Giants Cave is a self exploration cave located on Caves Road in the Southern Margaret River area. margaretriver.com website can give you all the information if you are keen to explore Giants Cave yourself!
After our cave experience we head to Hamelin Bay. Hamelin Bay is famous for hosting a family of stingrays and eagle rays!
These rays come right up to the shore, and if you are lucky enough you can have a little swim with them! Very cool!
