Double Rainbow at Lake Clementine Trail in Auburn, CA
Took the Amtrak Capitol Corridor train to Sacramento to meet up with friends to hike the Lake Clementine trail on Memorial Day weekend 2017. The trail is packed with stunning view. The moderate level hike is topped off with a climactic view of a double rainbow near the man-made waterfall.
Here's more info about the trail from alltrails.com below:
----
Lake Clementine Trail leads to the spot where the North Fork Dam meets the rocks for an outstanding view of cascading water. Trail passes under the tallest bridge in California, Foresthill Bridge.
The waterfall is absolutely amazing. There are rarely any people at the base of the fall but there is an abundance of poison oak so you need to be careful.
Another good feature about this hike is about a quarter of a mile into the hike you pass by Clark's Pool - a fairly popular swimming hole. Despite being in the middle of the river, it is actually quite warm and very refreshing - especially since the first half of the hike is totally unshaded and gets rather hot.
Placer County - Lake Clementine Hike
This track to interesting sites is located a short distance from Interstate 80 in the Auburn State Recreation Area. The trail follows beside the North Fork of the American River. Hikers cross beneath the Auburn-Foresthill Bridge, the tallest in California at 730 ft. Water cascading over the Lake Clementine Dam is the highlight of the hike.

The wildlife here is amazing from all the fish species to the bullfrogs with there tadpoles and the deer that graze by the river witch I have seen but not got on video yet but way to many to list and not even close to getting them all on video yet. The water is very clear as long as people are not stirring up the dirt from walking around in the river and upstream of you and just like most places go Monday-Thursday to avoid the most people not including holidays and make sure if you go on the weekend or holiday to go early because there is limited parking for around 100 cars and some times it can fill up and they won't let you in until somebody leave and it cost 10$ per car.
So just load it up on google maps and your on your way.
