Day Trips From Queenstown: Lake Hayes and Arrowtown Travel Vlog - Road Trip To Wanaka, New Zealand
There are lots of fun day trips from Queenstown, New Zealand! You can choose to make Queenstown your base. Alternatively, you can choose to do what we did - make these stops on your road trip between Queenstown and Wanaka. First up, Lake Hayes: a tranquil lake with a path around it, attracting hikers, cyclists, and people who love walking around. There are beautiful mountains surrounding it. Next, stop at Arrowtown for the afternoon. It's a historic gold mining town that's preserved with old buildings and a quaint downtown. I couldn't resist trying panning for gold - you'll have to see if I struck it rich!

Located in the beautiful South island of New Zealand is Lake Hayes that lies between Arrowtown and Queenstown. Lindis Pass is a scenic winding road that we encounter on our road trip to Christchurch in the winter of 2009.

Queenstown Arrowtown - Arrow River Trail
Weather being not favorable, we chose to walk the 5km Arrow River Trail. Cycling not recommended for this trail - steep mountain slopes and narrow pathways. The other Arrowtown Trails are:: Bush Creek Trail - 4km; Sawpit Gully Trail - 12km; Hayes Creek Trails - 1 and 2 hours ; Millennium Walkway - 5km and Macetown 4WD Road - 6 hours return.

Arrowtown is a historic gold mining town in the Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand. It is located on the banks of the Arrow River approximately 22 km from the famous tourism town Queenstown. Arrowtown is the most beautiful town in New Zealand when the leaves along streets and on the hills turn to yellow and red in autumn. There are many well preserved buildings used by European and Chinese immigrants dating from the gold mining days of the town. Chinese Settlement is a on-site museum at the outlet of Bush Creek.

It is not that long trail course, but you will see beautiful nature here.
