Shakes n Ladders - NEW Lake Leschenaultia Mountain Bike Trails
Lake Leschenaultia is a beautiful spot near Chidlow in the hills east of Perth. For decades it has had a 'mountain bike' trail posted that was really just a couple of boring fire roads - but not anymore! Western Trails Alliance have just finished construction of about 12km of new purpose built mountain bike trails near the lake. I rode all of them recently and Shakes n Ladders is easily my favourite (and everyone else's riding there too, judging by the traffic it was getting!). It has a stack of small to mid sized ladder jumps and drops and flows quite nicely. Being so new, the trails are still pretty loose and soft (you can see me almost lose it halfway through this clip) meaning it is a bit hard to maintain momentum at the moment, but this should improve as they bed in. Overall, I am stoked to have a new area near Perth to ride at, especially as a swim in the lake will go down really well when summer arrives! Perth Hills 2019 - Lake Leschenaultia
Amazing Afternoon spent at Perth Hills, Mundaring. You can have a picnic while the kids swim at the lake.
Canoe & SUP (Paddel board) available for hire at very reasonable prices. We hired canoes from the shed and it was $15 per canoe for half an hour and $25 per canoe for an hour. Three people maximum per canoe & life jackets were provided.

These videos and website started off in the early nineties as markers and scribblings on a giant map of Australia on my games room wall of all the best places in Australia to go and camp, fish and four wheel drive. After many years of practical research as well as reading four wheel drive magazines and watching every camping, fishing and four wheel driving TV show (it’s been a harrowing and arduous task); I recently realised that come the time my wife and I can leave the kids behind and head off on a trip longer than a school holiday break; I’m either going to need a bloody big plastic sleeve to put the map in, or I’m going to have to drag myself kicking and screaming into the 21st century………
Though I haven’t been to every campground in Australia to video each one yet, I have done many in Western Australia and will continue until such time as I can do it full time and spend the rest of my life travelling the rest of Australia camping and videoing every campsite! It might take a while so bear with me…...

Day trip to Kings Park, Perth Hills (Lake Leschenaultia) & Swan Valley @ 2019
The best time to see Kings Park is just before sunset. For Lake Leschenaultia @ Perth Hills, it's best to go early in the morning before it gets too sunny.
On the way back, you can stop at Swan Valley for lunch and check out a few places before driving back to Perth.
We had lunch at the Whistler's Chocolate Company Swan Valley, the food is reasonably priced with good service and reasonably priced. We did not want to spend too much time eating lunch at a winery and they provided quick service.
We also stopped by a roadside shop to purchase fruit. I don't remember the name of the place but its real close to the Ugly Duckling winery.
