Lake Mainit in Surigao - Big Lakes In Philippines
Today we will be taking you to the fourth biggest lake in the Philippines called mainit lake in a area called mainit. Mainit is around a 1 hour drive from surigao city and is a nice chilled out relaxing day out of surigao.
Mainit Lake is huge, this being only number 4 in the big lake list in the Philippines i wonder how big the biggest lake is. The water is calm and the surroundings is just as calm.
For food and drinks you will need to go into mainit town, mainit lake is not a popular tourist attraction so has nothing on the lake for people. The town is only a short 5 or 10 minute walk away.
Next we headed to mapaso hot spring. Mapaso is a really pretty well maintained hot spring with around 6 or 7 pools. We only see 2 westerners here so its mainly used by the locals enjoying there weekends and time off.
Entrance into mapaso hot spring is 30 pesos which is a bargain for what they offer you.
All in all it was a great day out to lake mainit and mapaso falls and one we would recommend if you are in the surigao area for a day or 2. The drive is lovely with great views all the way through the countryside.

Feb. 11, 2016 - Went to Togonan Falls then to Mapaso Hot Spring with sidetrip to Sacanto Food Delights @ Tubod ^_^
The road going to Mapaso Hot Spring is now fully concretized / paved unlike Togonan Falls which is still rough road.
The entrance fee to the Hot Spring is just P25.00 but there is an option for P1,000 if you want an exclusive pool.
Mapaso Wellness Hotspring had just developed / expanded / added more naturally hot pools unlike before where there is only one pool :) Super relaxing ang Hot Spring, as in! Highly recommended!
Overall, I had a really great time! And I will definitely come back here. I dream of just cycling this place from Surigao hehe :) Goodluck to me!

Lake Mainit (Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte)

A month ago we went on trip to Kitcharao for the town's fiesta. After the happy event the kids and I went on another adventure in a nearby lake called Lake Mainit. It's one of the deepest and fourth largest lake in the Philippines.

It is located 3km away from Mapaso Road junction :) After exploring Farmers Hill Garden, you can also walk 1km to get to Mapaso Hot Springs.
How to get there from Surigao City:
1. Ride a bus / van going to Butuan & tell conductor to drop you off at Magpayang Rotonda
2. At the rotonda, there are a lot of tricycles / motorcycles there, hire them to take you to Farmers Hill Garden
3. Or if you’re like me, kuripot, just ride your mountain bike so that you won’t spend any money at all on transpo / gas. Just snacks & food :)

Togonan Falls of Brgy. Marayag, Mainit, Surigao del Norte - How To Get There
Went to Togonan Falls of Brgy. Marayag, Mainit, Surigao del Norte last October 12, 2014, Sunday, 12:00PM-2:30PM :D :D :D
I know that there are a lot of people who would want to visit this newly developed natural attraction but there's not a lot of info on the net on how to get there, only pictures of the place. That is the reason why I made this clip - to help / guide people on how to get to Togonan Falls of Brgy. Marayag, Mainit, Surigao del Norte! You're welcome, by the way! :D
How to Get There -
Option 1: Naog sa rotonda / entrance ng Magpayang, then u can ride a habal2x going to the falls.
Option 2: Suyod sa Magpayang, diretsoha lang ang dalan, then turn to the rough road on your right, just BEFORE the fork road (as shown in Google Maps on the opening part of my video). If u don't have a car, there are also habal2x's (one way fare is P50.00) waiting to take you to the falls as you turn right :D Then subaya ra ang dayan / just go straight ahead and be prepared for a bumpy ride of about 3 kilometers until you reach Brgy. Marayag's Gym (this is the landmark that tells you you're super close to the entrance). When you reach Marayag's Gym, you then TURN LEFT to where the flags are... Then boom! Before you know it, you're already at the entrance.

How's the road going there? Well, as of now it is still a rough road. Don't bring a car that has a low clearance to the ground as huge rocks from the road will only damage/scratch it's under chassis... Only bring pick-up trucks, motorcycles, SUVs or even a mountain bike (if you dare)! :D Better yet just go ride the habal2x hehehe ^_^ Also there is a part of the road that's narrow (only one lane) so goodluck if two cars going the opposite direction pass by it at the same time! o_O
Overall, it's a really nice place! Very refreshing! I highly recommend you ride the bamboo raft (it's FREE) and get close to the waterfalls and have the biggest shower / best back massage of your life hehehe. Super nag enjoy jod ko. What is, tagaw og waterfalls! lol Finally, a powerful waterfalls that's close to Surigao City! :D Kudos for developing this place! I hope the road going to Togonan Falls will be widened and cemented soon. And I hope more of Surigao / Caraga's natural attractions will be developed soon... :D
Togonan Falls FYI - The waterfalls is said to be around 70 feet high! Whoa! And is only a 1 hour drive from Surigao City! :) What are you waiting for? GO na people!!! Also, it is said that there are 300 easy steps going down the waterfalls proper. But dle naman na nimo mapansin sa sobra nimo ka-excited makita ang falls ^_^ hehe
