This was my first ride on the trail across from my new home in Newport, VT... seems I need to get a mountain or hybrid bike for this gravel road. I could not get above 12-13 MPH average speed due to the rough surface as braking would have been dangerous. (My bicycle is a road bike, a 1979 Raleigh Grand Prix, upgraded with a 12-speed Sun Tour set of gears.)
