The Main Secret of the Lake Michigan Triangle
It’s not so hard to imagine something mysterious like ships and planes vanishing in the infamous Bermuda Triangle. The ocean is big and full of wonders, after all. But what about, say, a lake? It’s not so absurd when we’re talking about one as huge as Lake Michigan. Yes, The Michigan Triangle is a thing, and it’s just as eerily inexplicable…
The triangle is situated in the lower half of the lake. It’s 16 times smaller than the Bermuda Triangle, but strange events happen here no less frequently, especially if you keep in mind the difference in size. Some witnesses report seeing a strange glow under the surface, others swear they saw a UFO in the skies over the lake, and so many just feel uneasy being there. So, you ready to dive in?

SUMMARY:
- The North American Great Lakes are all massive, and Lake Michigan itself is the 4th largest freshwater lake in the world.
- The triangle is situated in the lower half of the lake, with a corner at Manitowoc, Wisconsin and the other two at Ludington and Benton Harbor, Michigan.
- The first case goes way back to the 17th century, when the Great Lakes started to become a means of moving goods for trading.
- In August of 1679, a French ship called Le Griffon was sailing across the unchartered waters of the Great Lakes. But when she made it to Lake Michigan, Le Griffon… just vanished.
- The cause of Le Griffon’s disappearance never was fully established. Some evidence points at a sudden storm, while others believe it was rival traders that attacked and destroyed the vessel.
- The weirdest thing is that Le Griffon’s wreckage never was found.
- The next noticeable vanishing happened in 1891 to the Thomas Hume schooner.
- The schooner never did make it back to its home port. The search for the ship was initiated almost immediately, but with no results for almost 120 years.
- There would also be the Rosa Belle. Also a lumber schooner, she set off on her final voyage from High Island to Benton Harbor in 1921.
- She was found later drifting aimlessly on the waters of Lake Michigan after being capsized by some great force.
- To add to the mystery, the ship’s crew was nowhere to be found and never heard from again…
- Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 2501 had taken off from New York and was headed for Seattle on June 23.
- It would appear that Flight 2501 had encountered a storm cloud, the plane malfunctioned, and then fell into Lake Michigan. But even with all efforts to try and find the wreckage, there was no success.
- Reportedly, two police officers saw a strange red light hovering above the lake on exactly the same day the plane disappeared.
- The anomaly of The Lake Michigan Triangle, if it exists and whatever it really is, remains a giant flaming question mark on the map of the United States.

Lake Michigan is one of the five Great Lakes of North America and the only one located entirely within the United States. The other four Great Lakes are shared by the U.S. and Canada. It is the second-largest of the Great Lakes by volume[1] and the third-largest by surface area, after Lake Superior and Lake Huron.
Mackinac Island is an island and resort area, covering 3.8 square miles in land area, in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is located in Lake Huron, at the eastern end of the Straits of Mackinac, between the state's Upper and Lower Peninsulas.[5] The island was home to an Odawa settlement before European exploration began in the 17th century.

• The Kenneth Arnold UFO sighting occurred on June 24, 1947, when private pilot Kenneth Arnold saw a string of nine, shiny unidentified flying objects flying past Mount Rainier at speeds that Arnold estimated at a minimum of 1,200 miles an hour (1,932 km/hr). This was the first post-War sighting in the United States that garnered nationwide news coverage and is credited with being the first of the modern era of UFO sightings, including numerous reported sightings over the next two to three weeks. Arnold's description of the objects also led to the press quickly coining the terms flying saucer and flying disc as popular descriptive terms for UFOs • UYⓂ️ •

Unboxing MICHIGAN. What's GOOD and BAD About Living in MICHIGAN?
Why the heck would anyone want to live in Michigan? Well, we're about to show you exactly what.
Does Michigan have the best blueberries on earth?
Is it true that there’s a lake monster that lives in Lake Erie?
And where the hell did all of the car makers go?
We’re gonna answer those questions and more.
So, take out both hands and get ready to show everyone which part of the state you’re from, as we get ready to unbox the great state of Michigan.
Michigan almost touches Canada, but the two are separated entirely by water of some sort.
As far as the residents of the geographically complicated state are concerned, there are two Michigans. Michigan, and Northern Michigan.
There’s a lot of Packer fans, eskimos, huge mosquitos, and drinkers way up here.
They get a lot of snow up here - about 80 inches a year in many parts. Michigan as a state has the third most hunters per capita, where 1 in 10 residents hunts. But in the UP, 100% of the people hunt. Even the women!
The opposite of that is Detroit. It’s one of the worst places in the country. That’s undeniable. Of course, Detroit people will remind you that their city is trying to make a comeback, which is true. Certain areas of downtown look much better, and going back to 1985, Detroit’s violent crime rate has come down dramatically.
And of course, there’s Flint, which also struggled to stay economically relevant when car companies left the state. Flint is always towards the top five in America in terms of dangerous cities per capita. To make matters worse, Flint’s municipal water supply is...lacking in drinkability, and has been for years.
The Great Lakes contain more than 80 percent of North America’s—and more than 20 percent of the world’s—surface fresh water supply. Many Michigan residents boat on these lakes and jump off into them from tall rocks.
There are quite a few nice beaches in Michigan, especially along the Lake Michigan shoreline. The coastal community of Grand Haven is charming. Saugatuck is famous for its beach dunes. Traverse City was once called the second best small town travel destination in America. They also make cherries here.
The rest of Michigan is pretty boring. Lots of country roads, rolling hills and trees. Outside of a handful of metro areas like Grand Rapids, Lansing and Battle Creek, it’s Just a bunch of Euchre players.
Michigan makes cereal and milk, that’s cool. It’s also the 7th biggest exporter in the US, and is a leader in producing blueberries, corn, soybeans, grapes and apples.
Michigan is situated smack-dab in the midwest which means weird whether patterns, and freaky storms. They get so much snow, they use what are called Yooper Scoopers to move the piles of snow off their rooves so they don’t cave in.
Michigan’s weather is quite diverse. Ask any Michigander what the weather is like, and it’s hard to tell, since it changes so often.
What about the sports in Michigan? Well, football season is a big deal, where most of the southern part of the state cares about the Lions, while the UP roots on Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.
Of course, being in a state with frozen lakes everywhere, you’d expect hockey to be huge here - in fact, there are more kids who play hockey in Michigan than in any other state. As such, there are lots of Red Wings fans everywhere here.
But that’s nothing compared to the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry. Everyone in Michigan does not like Ohio State.

Charlevoix, MI: Tranquility Along Lake Michigan
Charlevoix, MI is a great city to check out along Lake Michigan between Traverse City and the Mackinac Bridge. The city has great shopping, restaurants, and many parks including some on Lake Charlevoix and Lake Michigan. It is very cool to walk along the channel to the lighthouse and watch the drawbridge go up to let the boats through the channel including the ferry to Beaver Island located about 32 miles northwest of the city. Make sure to check out all the cool buildings built by architect Earl A Young which are scattered around the city! I also recommend checking out Fisherman's Island State Park located a few miles west of the city for some beauty and tranquility along Lake Michigan!

Home falls down sandy bluff along Lake Michigan
A small home along the Lake Michigan shoreline in Michigan fell down a sandy bluff in an area plagued by erosion. Muskegon County officials had monitored the condition of the White River Township home. It reportedly toppled over Tuesday night. (Jan. 2)

Known as the Great Lakes State, Michigan looks like a hand, and is easily identifiable on any map of the United States and also from outer space. It's located in the northern Midwest of the USA and borders the Canadian province of Ontario. Michigan is called the Wolverine State and is divided into two peninsulas with a land area of 150,000 square kilometers. The word Michigan (pronounced Mishigan, not Mitchigan), comes from the Native American word Mishigamaa, which means large lake. Michigan has the longest freshwater coast in the world: more than 5200km of shoreline. With its population of almost 10 million, Michigan is the 8th most populous state in the United States. Almost 40% of the state's population lives near Detroit, the largest city, while only 3% live in the entire Upper Peninsula.
The French discovered Michigan in the 1600s and founded the city of Detroit in 1701. During the 1700s control of Michigan alternated between the French, the British, and the local Native Americans. In 1796 the British finally abandoned Detroit and their forts on the Great Lakes. Michigan became a territory in 1805 and the 26th state in January
1837.
Michigan is known primarily for two things: automobiles and its beautiful nature.
At the beginning of the 1900s Henry Ford revolutionized auto production by developing the moving assembly line. He and his fellow auto manufacturers (Olds, Buick, Dodge, and others) helped transform private life in the United States and created an economic boom in Michigan that attracted immigrants from all over the world. Today, General Motors, Chrysler, and Ford still produce almost 25% of all cars made in the United States. In addition to manufacturing automobiles, Michigan also builds 50% of all office furniture made in the USA, and is home to Dow Chemical, Whirlpool, and Kellogg's, all of which manufacture products people worldwide use on a daily basis.
As a native Michigander, I am proud of my state's beautiful scenery. Tourism is one of Michigan's largest industries. Tourists in Michigan spend around $17 billion per year visiting the state's amazing nature and its cultural heritage. Among our most spectacular sites are the Sleeping Bear sand dunes along Lake Michigan, Mackinac Island (a uniquely historical island free of automobiles), the Mackinaw Straits bridge (at 8km in length it is the world's third largest suspension bridge), and the Upper Peninsula with the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, the Porcupine Mountains, Tahquamenon Falls, and Isle Royale National Park. Michigan has over 11,000 lakes and is a paradise for fishing, hunting, canoeing, skiing, ice skating, and snowmobiling. We also have several thousand kilometers of pristine beaches with white sand and crystal clear aquamarine water. The climate is ideal for the production of cherries, apples, and Christmas trees—all of which are products that Michigan exports in large quantity across the United States.
Culturally and educationally Michigan also distinguishes itself. Our 15 public universities, 56 private colleges, and 28 public community colleges attract large numbers of foreign students due to their diverse curricula, high academic standards, and pleasant learning environment. Our largest city, Detroit, is home to the Henry Ford Museum, historical Dearborn Village, and the Detroit Institute of the Arts. The Detroit Symphony and Detroit
Opera House enjoy an international reputation. Finally, Michigan has contributed its fair share to the music world, beginning with Motown Records in the 1960s and continuing up through Eminem and Madonna, both of whom are native Michiganders.
