Ryde Lake Muskoka Mid-Autumn, Gravenhurst Canada
Ryde Lake, 12 km east of Gravenhurst, is typical of many in Ontario's near-north Muskoka District. This 12 metre-deep lake drains into Kahshe Lake, home to the Ojibwa before European settlers arrived in the 1840s. This slide show presents scenic and close-up images of the fields, forest and waterfall on Ryde Lake's eastern shore, bookended with aphorisms by Marcus Aurelius and the Buddha.

The Muskoka Wharf is located in the town of Gravenhurst, Ontario on the southern edge of Muskoka Bay on Lake Muskoka. The Muskoka Wharf is the home port of the RMS Segwun, the oldest operating steamship in North America and the last surviving original steamship from the fleet of several dozen that served the county of Muskoka, Ontario in the late 19th century and early 20th century, and the Wenonah II, a modern replica of an early 20th-century steamship.[1] The Muskoka Wharf, once a vibrant hub of economic activity at the union of a major railroad terminus and steamship port, fell into decline as roads and automobiles were introduced to the region, but has experienced a major economic resurgence since the creation of a heritage-based development area in 2005.

Exploring Hardy Lake Provincial Park - Muskoka, Ontario Canada [Travel Video]
We found another great little Provincial Park in Ontario - this one is located in the heart of the Muskokas! We wandered around Hardy Lake Provincial Park in the late summer and had an amazing time. Joined by some family members, the trail is well-marked and the scenery is classic Canadian wilderness.
Located between just north of Gravenhurst touching Lake Muskoka, it's easy to drive to for a day hike in cottage country.
