Swimming in Lake Rotopounamu. Culture New Zealand
Swimming in Lake Rotopounamu. Culture New Zealand I went for a Hike and a warm dip in lake Rotopounamu which is a secluded lake in the Pihanga Scenic Reserve, in the Tongariro National Park in New Zealand's Central North Island. I even filmed a large dragonfly.
I've driven past this lake so many times throughout my lifetime. I didn't even know this lake existed. Until one day I stopped to have a look see. I wasn't expecting to find a lake that had no inlet of outlet. The lake is fed by seven streams, but has no visible surface outflow. It is believed to drain underground. Walking this track takes about two hours.
