Lake Sonoma. March 19th 2017
Lake Sonoma is a reservoir west of Healdsburg in northern Sonoma County, California, created by the construction of Warm Springs Dam. Access from U.S. Route 101 is by way of Dry Creek Road from Healdsburg.
The lake provides water for countywide growth and development, and for recreation. At full capacity, it has 50 miles (80 km) of shoreline, a surface area of more than 2,700 acres (11 km2),[3] and holds 381,000 acre feet (470,000,000 m3) of water.[2] Activities include boating, swimming, fishing, riding, hiking, camping, and hunting.[3] Notable features include the Milt Brandt Visitor Center, the adjacent Congressman Don Clausen Fish Hatchery, and the Warm Springs Recreation Area below the dam.
The US Army Corps of Engineers built Warm Springs Dam across Dry Creek. Completed in 1982, this rolled-earth embankment dam is 319 ft (97 m) high, 3,000 ft (900 m) long, and 30 ft (9 m) wide at the top. It contains 30,000,000 cu yd (23,000,000 m3) of earth.[2] The dam aids in flood control, and a hydroelectric plant produces electricity from the water released downstream. A minimum amount of flow must be maintained in Dry Creek to allow fish migration.
Pomo people had lived in the Dry Creek area since at least the 18th century, and some of them resisted the creation of the lake. Archaeologists at Sonoma State University have written about the prehistory and history of Warm Springs Dam, Lake Sonoma, and the Dry Creek Valley.[4]
Lake Sonoma 50 Miles 2019
The race is held on the trails at Lake Sonoma, about 10 miles northwest of Healdsburg, California. The course is an out-and-back circumnavigation of the Warm Springs Arm of Lake Sonoma. It is 86% single-track trail and 9% dirt fire roads, with the first 2.4 miles on pavement. The trail is relentlessly rolling with three significant climbs. There is about 10,500 feet of elevation gain and an equal amount of loss over the 50 miles.

Sonoma County - Lake Sonoma Hike
This loop trail follows a ridgeline, descends steeply to lake level & climbs gradually up a valley back to the trailhead. It offers great vistas of Lake Sonoma. Wildflowers cover the hillsides in the spring. Wildlife include wild boar, deer, raptors, and quail. The lake provides excellent bass fishing.

Lake Sonoma 50 | The Window Seat 005
In the fifth episode of The Window Seat, I hit the road to Healdsburg, CA once again. This time, it's to race the relentless but stunningly beautiful Lake Sonoma 50 Mile race. After being coached for about a month and a half, I jumped into this race sort of last minute (thank you Tropical John!) and used it as prep for Leadville as far as nutrition and time on my feet goes. Had a blast as always and stoked for the upcoming training for Leadville 100 on August 19th.

2019 LAKE SONOMA 50 | The Window Seat
A behind the scenes look at my trip to Healdsburg, CA to have my second go at the notoriously relentless but beautiful Lake Sonoma 50-Mile run in preparation to race the Angeles Crest 100 Mile later this year. The race once again, chewed me up and spat me out on the end side. A thoroughly enjoyable trip nonetheless

HEALDSBURG, CA | The Window Seat 002
In the second episode of The Window Seat, I go on my first road trip of the series to visit the crew from Healdsburg Running Company to screen my latest film Life in a Day about the 2016 Western States 100. That was preceded by brief stops in Rocklin and Auburn, CA to record an episode of Trail Runner Nation (@WeAreNation) and a few miles on the famous Western States course. Finally, I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Healdsburg, both before and during the film screening. Many thanks to my gracious hosts Don Freeman and John Medinger/Lisa Henson, to Magdalena Boulet for making the journey from East Bay and to Skip Brand, Sonoma Cider and all the wonderful people in Healdsburg for making this a memorable trip!

RV LIVING-BEST SONOMA COUNTY RESTAURANTS-QUIRKY SEBASTOPOL CA CAFES-EP69
In Sonoma County CA, Hardcore Expresso, Fork Roadhouse, Wild Flour Bread and Russian House #1 are the most charming places we found to catch a bite at. Being full time RV, we cook almost all our own meals on the road in our Class A Motorhome. So when it comes time to blow-up the budget and the calorie counter, we want to find a restaurant that is truly something different. Of course the menu and food must be good, but what we really look for, is atmosphere that can't be beat. These four places stood out from all the others we tried. Next week's video will be the PLACES we visited!

OJiM (Our Journey In Myles) is a channel for fun, sharing and exploring the wonders of Full Time RV Life,…... together with you. Sue & I are not RV or RV Travel experts, and are learning as we go along in our RV Living. We are willing to share our RV Newbie experiences and what works for us as a couple in our Class A Motorhome we have named “Myles. We encourage you to do your own research, and to develop your own special style, whether it be in a Travel Trailer or a 5th Wheel. We will never be an expert on any subject, but will document the RV Tips & Tricks we learn from our experiences along the way for you to judge. We started our journey in miles by learning from many RV Vloggers that we still subscribe to today.
