Our trip to Shimosuwa in the Nagano Prefecture back in September. Lake Suwa was featured in the 2016 anime Kimi no Na Wa (Your Name). It was a peaceful place and definitely one I would recommend stopping to see (even if it's for the sweets and amazing Ramen!). The song is called Invincible Strength by Falcom Sound Team (2010). Japan Vlog #11: Matsumoto castle, Shirakaba & Suwa lake in Nagano
Nige & June come down to centre part of Nagano prefecture. We passed around Shirakaba-ko or Shirakaba lake, which is still frozen and white. Very beautiful.
Then we went near Suwa-ko or Suwa lake. We could see Suwa lake from higher point of express way.
Then we went to today's main landmark, Matsumoto castle. Matsumoto castle is one of the three Japanese treasure castle (Other two are Hikone & Himeji castle).

Mystery of Suwa Lake in Japan, a man-made lake?
謎の諏訪湖・それは人造湖なのか？
The Official Guide of Japan writes as follows:
Lake Suwa-ko is situated almost right in the center of Nagano.
Sitting at an altitude of 759 meters, it is the largest lake in the prefecture with a circumference of 15.9 kilometers.
Beside the lake, there is Suwa-taisha shrine.
Suwa-taisha Shrine, which consists of four shrines located to the south and north of Lake Suwa-ko, is one of the oldest shrines in Japan, and has more than 10,000 branches across the country.
Today’s story is about its Suwa-ko, or Suwa-lake.
I, Hiroshi Hayashi, just wonder if it was really created by nature effect.
There are some reasons why I become to think so.
Before I talk about Suwa-lake, I have to talk a bit about a few thousands of man-made lakes in Moxos in Bolibia.
One of them is 20 km long with a beautitful shape of rice.
Then why not can I say Suwa-lake is just one of them?

According to the Website, issued by Kyoto University, one of the most leading universities in Japan, it says about Kofuns as follows.
Kofuns are the tombs of powerful people in ancient Japan. They were built in the form of mounds from the 3rd century to the 7th century. This period is called the Kofun, or tumulus, period.
