Lake Taupo central North Island of New Zealand. famous for its trout fishing & fly fishing
Lake Taupō has a staggering number of activities to choose from all year round and is tagged as the Skydiving capital of New Zealand but thousands more come here specifically for the abundance of brown and rainbow trout fishing, which extends south to Turangi and the Tongariro River. It has an enviable reputation for the quality and fighting spirit of its fish.
Lake Taupō offers many more activities, kayaking, canoeing, wind surfing, scenic flights or sailing and for the adrenaline junkies to get their fix, there is sky diving, bungy jumping, jet boating, water skiing and wake boarding.
There are also plenty of land based activities to keep you occupied, enjoy a wander around the town centre, stroll to the lake side or sample the catch of the day in one of the lively cafes or restaurants.
To the north of Taupō you'll find a concentrated collection of national wonders within a few minutes of each other. Boiling mud and hissing steam harnessed by the Wairakei power station and the clear, blue Waikato River, Huka Falls which are New Zealands's best-known falls, Aratiatia Rapids an outstanding scenic feature of the Waikato River where water is released through the dam 4 times a day showing to visitors the natural path along which the river once flowed. Jet boating to the base of these falls is a truly magical experience.
Exploring New Zealand's North Island - Taupo & Rotorua
Seeing as many sights and sounds along the way. Including the Tongariro Alpine Crossing; the location of Mordor in the Lord of the Rings trilogy!
Must do activities Taupo - New Zealand (including bungee jumping)
Taupo home of the largest lake in New Zealand (Lake Taupo), award winning pies and views that will leave an impression on you forever. Join us as we check out some of the must visit spots in Taupo this episode.
First thing we check out the legendary views and waterfall at Huka Falls. The colour of the waters here at Huka Falls are an extraordinary icy blue. From the Huka Falls vantage points you can witness the phenomenon of natural hydro power barreling over an 11meter high waterfall.
Next up Peter makes an attempt at conquering his fears at Taupo Bungy. Bungy jumping is something that he chickened out of last time he was in Taupo so watch on to see if he actually does it.
Address: 202 Spa Rd, Taupo 3330
Hours: Monday - Sunday 9:30 am - 5:00 pm
After our stop at Taupo bungy we get some Bakels Supreme Gold Award winning pies from Fast and Fresh Bakery. The Venison, bacon, mushroom pie is a lil bit fancy and a lot of delicious.
Hours: Monday - Sunday 6:00am - 4:00pm
Address: 8 Horomatangi St, Taupo 3330
Next up we visit the famous Lake Taupo and try our luck with the Hole in One Taupo challenge. If you manage to make the hole in one shot it's an instant $10,000 cash prize! Definitely a must-do activity when you're visiting Taupo.
We've heard about the beautiful Wairakei Terraces and thermal health spa in Taupo a couple times before but on this visit to Taupo we finally make the trip over the the healing thermal natural waters to have a soak. We're so glad we did. The thermal spa waters have a rejuvenating effect on your skin which you feel just by soaking in it for awhile.
Address: State Highway 1, Wairakei 3377
Hours: Monday - Sunday 8:30am–8:30pm
If you're looking for a tasty big feed then make sure you check out the famous Master of India restaurant. This has got to be hands down the best Indian restaurant in Taupo. They're consistently rated the #1 best restaurant in Taupo on TripAdvisor and also the #1 best Indian cuisine in the whole of the North Island.
Address: 47 Ruapehu St, Taupo 3330
Hours: Monday - Sunday 11am–10pm
After all that we retire to our Yurt AirBnb to wrap up this episode!

TAUPO ATTRACTIONS: HUKA FALLS, CRATERS OF THE MOON & HOT SPRINGS /// THESTYLEJUNGLE VLOG #18
Taupo attractions are probably one of the main reasons for many tourists to come to this region of the North Island of New Zealand. There are a lot of things to do in Taupo. Obviously, the biggest point of interest here is Great Lake Taupo with a huge selection of activities like sailing, swimming, fishing, jet boat riding and many others. We've been trying them out last time, so we decided to explore what else Taupo has to offer.
In this travel video, we started our day at the Craters of the moon park. This is the park featuring amazing geothermal activities and moon-like views. Definitely one of the most awesome places to go in New Zealand.
Huka falls is the most visited and photographed natural attraction in New Zealand. If you're not sure where to go in Taupo - this is the must-visit place. This 11-metres-high waterfall with stunning turquoise water will never leave you disappointed.
Another reason to Travel to Taupo is a selection of natural hot springs. To experience it we decided to go to Otumuheke Stream at Spa Thermal Park. This place is famous for its scenery - it's located literally on the banks of the Waikato River and is a popular place among both locals and tourists.
Hope you liked this small guide to Taupo attractions and now you are inspired to visit this fantastic region of New Zealand.
Thank you very much for watching! Don't forget to hit LIKE and SUBSCRIBE buttons to support our channel. See you soon!

Lake Taupo is a lake situated in the North Island of New Zealand. With a surface area of 616 square kilometres (238 sq mi), it is the largest lake by surface area in New Zealand, and the largest freshwater lake by surface area in Oceania.
Lake Taupo has a perimeter of approximately 193 kilometres, a deepest point of 186 metres. It is drained by the Waikato River (New Zealand's longest river), while its main tributaries are the Waitahanui River, the Tongariro River, and the Tauranga-Taupo River. It is a noted trout fishery with stocks of introduced brown trout and rainbow trout.
The lake lies in a caldera created following a huge volcanic eruption (see supervolcano) approximately 26,500 years ago. According to geological records, the volcano has erupted 28 times in the last 27,000 years. It has predominantly erupted rhyolitic lava although Mount Tauhara formed from dacitic lava.
The largest eruption, known as the Oruanui eruption, ejected an estimated 1,170 cubic kilometres of material and caused several hundred square kilometres of surrounding land to collapse and form the caldera. The caldera later filled with water, eventually overflowing to cause a huge outwash flood.[3]
Several later eruptions occurred over the millennia before the most recent major eruption, which occurred in 180 CE. Known as the Hatepe eruption, it is believed to have ejected 100 cubic kilometres of material, of which 30 cubic kilometres was ejected in the space of a few minutes. This was one of the most violent eruptions in the last 5,000 years (alongside the Tianchi eruption of Baekdu at around 1000 and the 1815 eruption of Tambora), with a Volcanic Explosivity Index rating of 7. The eruption column was twice as high as the eruption column from Mount St. Helens in 1980, and the ash turned the sky red over Rome and China. The eruption devastated much of the North Island and further expanded the lake. The area was uninhabited by humans at the time of the eruption, since New Zealand was not settled by the Māori until several centuries later at the earliest. Taupo's last known eruption occurred around 210 CE, with lava dome extrusion forming the Horomatangi Reefs, but that eruption was much smaller than the 180 CE eruption.
The 180 eruption was one of the largest in recorded history. The skies and sunsets formed from this eruption were noted by Roman and Chinese observers. Any possible climatic effects of the eruption would have been concentrated on the southern hemisphere due to the southerly position of Lake Taupo[4]
Underwater hydrothermal activity continues near the Horomatangi vent,[5] and the volcano is currently considered to be dormant rather than extinct.
Tourism is a major business for the area, attracting over 1.2 million visitors per year. The fact that the lake is the largest fresh water lake in Australasia (and sometimes advertised as the largest in the southern hemisphere[7]), and approximately the same size as Singapore, ensures its popularity. The busiest time is the high summer season around Christmas and New Year.
The lake area has a pleasant temperate climate. Maximum temperatures range from 24°C in January to 15°C in July, while the night temperatures range from 16°C in summer down to 5°C in winter. Most rain falls in summer.[8]
The area hosts popular events like the annual Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge, a cycling tour around the lake. Going around the lake takes about four to ten hours, depending on the cyclist. Hundreds of volunteers from the Taupo township help out to ensure the event's success.
Taupo is also host to the Oxfam Trailwalker, a charity ultra-challenge held each April on a 100 km course.
The region is also famous for the sport of skydiving.

Diving New Zealand | Lake Taupo
Diving Lake Taupo on Saturday morning before the start of the TecFest seminars. When you cant stand watching everyone else dive so you let one of the awesome dive operators in Auckland talk you into an early morning dive. Thanks to Grant for taking us out and the fills, divers are Thomas, Donny, Michael and Myself.
Lake Taupo is pretty awesome for diving with drop offs to 100m+ and visibility from 10-30m. How there are no dive centres in Taupo is a big question as the lake has so much potential especially for technical diving.

New Zealand North Island Travel from West to East (New Plymouth, Taupo ,Rotorua ,White Island)
New Zealand is a splendid country with so much to offer. The North Island alone has many wonderful places, you definetely should visit when you are there. Witness our journey from West to East beginning in New Plymouth, boasting marvelous beaches and the impressive Mount Taranaki which is the second highest mountain on the North Island. The next stop is Taupo, a place with something for everyone: Be amazed by the huge Lake Taupo, the majestic Waikato River with its Huka Falls and the Tongariro National Park, one of the most stunning in NZ. Here, you can embark on the Tongariro Crossing that will lead you through a bombastic volcanic area including a climb up on the Mount Doom which you may know from Lord of the Rings. One hour away from Taupo is Rotorua, another city offering countless tourist attractions. Experience the hilarious Agrodome Sheep Show, marvel at the Haramana Springs (with one of the cleanest waters in NZ) or just climb on a tower and enjoy the fabulous view. The last stop is White Island, an active volcano 50 km away from the shore. Its crater and all the volcanic nature surrounding it is unreal. If you are lucky as we were, you may witness a couple of happy dolphins accamponying you on your ride.
