Guriland Boat Adventures, Lake Towada, Japan / 18 Oct 2015
Another incredible day on the lake! This time I cranked up the speed a bit and got out of my kayak for a tour with Guriland Boat Adventures and the Misawa AB Outdoor Recreation Center. The weather couldn't have been better and the early morning fog made the scenery even better than expected. The autumn leaves are in their full colors this week!
JAPAN HIDDEN TREASURES Lake Towada
Hi Guys! I am back with another video of our Tohoku travels! This time I am sharing 2 days around Lake Towada.
Lake Towada (十和田湖, Towadako) is part of the Towada-Hachimantai National Park and is the largest caldera lake on Honshu, Japan's main island. Located on the border between Akita and Aomori Prefectures, the area is well known for its autumn colors especially around the Oirase Stream.
This place is so “peaceful” ???? but really it is such a beautiful place to visit.
It was an amazing trip. Felt so calm and relaxed while staying here. We have also seen multiple camping spots around the lake so you can give that a go as well.

Tohoku, Japan: Towadako & Boat tour!
5th day of my recent trip to Tohoku, I wasn't quite sure what to do so I took a boat tour of Lake Towadako and it was so beautiful! I made my way to Hachinohe for the later half of the trip.
edit: Apologies for the wonky video. I spent a lot of time editing it so I'm not sure where the problem came from ;_; And I can't re-edit it anymore because I sorta made some big changes to the source files...

Lake Towada, Japan - Winter
Tohoku, Canoeing in Lake Towada 十和田湖 早朝カヌー
Lake Towada, located in northern Honshu, at the border of Akita and Aomori Prefecture, is a beautiful crater lake. A few large-scale volcanic eruptions formed this lake 13,000 to 55,000 years ago. It is 400 meters above sea level and 327 meters deep. The water of the lake drains out into the Oirase River, another stunning treasure of nature.

A Kayak Tour of Lake Towada
Paddling along the southern shore of Lake Towada in northern Japan's Aomori Prefecture. This trip was the final part of an American Canoe Association Kayak Instructor Workshop but it turned out to be more fun than work! The weather was fantastic, the water was calm and clear, and we spent 7 great hours in the boats on a relaxing paddle.

Our attempt of a trip to a massive outdoor osen (hot spring bath) turned into a very scenic blessing. We found a place that has swan boat rentals and we added a hand crafted mask to our mask collection!

11月の三連休に十和田湖へ行ってきたよ。
クルージングは1時間に2本出航、所要時間 約50分。
十和田湖は典型的な二重式カルデラ湖で、海抜401m、周囲は訳46.2km、最も深いところで326.8mと日本第3位の湖。
日本十和田湖賞楓 (Japan Lake Towada-ko)
十和田湖是日本東北第一大湖，位於十和田八幡平國立公園內，
十和田湖是由十和田火山噴發而形成的二重火山湖，
火山口四週凸出湖面，年代久遠遍山長滿楓樹、松柏，
由於植物枝葉秋季枯黃時程各不相同，
每逢秋末冬初楓紅時節，
環湖丘陵呈現滿山遍野紅黃綠三色夾雜美麗壯觀的景色，
乘船環湖一週有如欣賞一幅不斷變景長畫，令人目不暇給。
2009年10月23日台灣賞楓旅遊團來到十和田湖，
因時間正確正值楓紅高峰期，是一次難得賞楓經驗。
Lake Towada is Japan's first Great Lakes Northeast, located in Towada Hachimantai National Park, Towada Lake Towada is formed by two volcanic eruptions heavy volcanic lake.

Since plants yellow foliage schedule varies in autumn, every autumn to early winter, red maple season, lake hills presents hillsides red-yellow-green mixed with spectacular scenery.
Enjoy a boat ride around the lake like the changing landscape long painting, admirable intoxicated.
October 23, 2009 Taiwan tour group came to the red maple Lake Towada, because the timing correct the visiting Maple Leafs are turning red peak, is a rare maple experience.

I am back with another video! Not so much eating included this time haha
We went to Nenokuchi by boat (50 mins approx) and started walking alongside the Oirase stream.
The Oirase Stream flows from Lake Towada on the border of Aomori and Akita prefectures through the equally scenic Oirase Gorge.
We were so done in the end..walked 18 plus KMs, but it was worth it. The stream has a lot of waterfalls and the colour of the water is so beautiful, mixture of white and blue.
Before leaving Lake Towada we went to see Towada Shrine. It was early in the morning so there was noone.

Towada Spring Kayaking
A beautiful Monday morning and a great day to paddle on Lake Towada! This time of year the water is just a degree above freezing with ice in the shadows and snow still on the shoreline. I started at the Utarube beach on the Southeastern side of the lake and paddled out to the North end of the Ogura Dome Peninsula.

撮影：November/2013 東北の秋の紅葉の名所で知られる十和田湖は、青森、秋田の両県にまたがる東西10km、南北約8kmにわたり、海抜400mの大きなカルデラ湖。湖上に突き出た2つの半島と入り江の景観が美しく、透明度を誇る青い水の色は多くの人を魅了してきた。周囲には道路が整備されて原生林の中を走ることができる。紅葉は、発荷峠からの眺めが特にすばらしく、国道103号を十和田南駅から来ると突然に視界に十和田湖が飛び込んで見える光景は感動的だ。湖は紅葉の外輪山のコントラストが見事で、遊覧船は子ノ口と休屋の間を往復と湾内の遊覧でき、湖上から眺める紅葉も美しい。

Lake Towada is the largest caldera lake on Honshu.
Lake is at the top of a 400-meter-high mountain on the border between Aomori and Akita. one of Japan's most famous autumn color spots.
Breathtaking scenery can be seen from a boat on Lake Towada or from a lakeside observatory deck. The red and yellow autumn leaves are excellent.
The surrounding mountains covered with deciduous trees, such as beech, maple and oak, offer spectacular sceneries.

AOMORI JAPAN, OIRASE STREAM
Oirase Stream (奥入瀬渓流, Oirase Keiryū) is a picturesque mountain stream in Aomori Prefecture that is one of Japan's most famous and popular autumn colors destinations. The stream flows along the floor of the Oirase Gorge, winding among trees which, while a lush green in spring and summer, turn brilliant shades of red, yellow and orange from late October through early November. Over a dozen waterfalls cascade down into the stream all along its length from the walls of the gorge.
Oirase Stream is the only outlet draining Lake Towada. It starts at Nenokuchi where there is a bus stop and a boat pier with connections to nearby Yasumiya Town. An easy-to-walk hiking trail leads along the most scenic, upper passage of the stream between Nenokuchi and Ishigedo, with many bridges, waterfalls and bus stops along the way. The trail is about 9 kilometers long and takes about 2.5 hours to walk one way.

Japan Off The Beaten Path: Autumn In Akita Prefecture | Japan Travel Guide
Japan Off The Beaten Path is a new series on my channel, where I show you more of the unknown areas/prefectures in Japan and encourage you to travel and visit areas other than the common places such as Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.
In this first episode, we visit and explore around Akita Prefecture in the Tohoku region of northern Honshu, the main island of Japan.
I came here during Autumn(end of October), which is the perfect time to come to see the autumn foliage!

As for transportation, it takes 4 hours to get from Tokyo station to Akita station via the Akita Komachi Bullet Train.
It costs around ¥17,000($160 USD) however if you have the JR pass you just have to pay the small fee of the reserved seat on the Shinkansen(all seats are reserved).
Or if you are going up to Hokkaido or coming back down from Hokkaido, you can change at the Shin-Aomori station and take the local JR train down to Odate station.
Going back to Tokyo from Shin-Aomori station is also possible by taking the Hayabusa bullet train. (Around ¥17,000)
Even though Akita is in Japan, each prefecture is so unique in it's own way - I learned so much from this trip and could see a different side of Japan.. I hope to share this kind of Japan more and more with you through my channel :)
