It was a hot weekend a couple of weeks ago so we decided to take a quick trip to a nearby lake. This is a short video we quickly put together from the little footage we had available. We hope you enjoy and that it will give you a bit of an idea about the area we visited.
Lake Vinuela is a drinking water reservoir in the Nerja area of Andalusia known for its vivid colours in contrast with the red soil of the surrounding hills forming a very unique place to visit.

El embalse de La Viñuela es un embalse situado en el término municipal de La Viñuela, en la provincia de Málaga, España. La Viñuela tiene una capacidad de 170 hm³ y una superficie de 565 ha. Afecta a una longitud de 6,2 km del río Guaro, sobre el que se encuentra situado y recoge además de las aguas de sus propios afluentes —ríos Sabar, Benamargosa y Salia— las de los rios de Alcaucín, Seco, Bermuza, Almanchares, Granados y Rubite.

En la comarca de la Axarquía, en Velez Málaga se encuentra el pantano de mayor capacidad de la provincia con 170 hectómetros cúbicos, llamado de la Viñuela por encontrarse parte de el en dicho municipio. Se construyó en el cauce del río Guaro y con aportaciones de los ríos Salia, Benamargosa, Bermuza, Rubite y el arroyo del Llano de Zafarraya. Sus aguas abastecen el riego del sur de la Axarquía y en caso de necesidad, de agua potable para Málaga capital. Alrededor del pantano hay varias ventas donde comer, un hotel y un camping. Es un lugar donde poder practicar senderismo o simplemente, donde pasar una mañana familiar en el campo.
