It was our first stay at an Army Corps of Engineers RV Park. We hope to stay at more in the future. If you want to see if there is one near you, go to recreation.gov and check it out. We had a great time visiting family and slowing down for a week before we hit memory lane in Fort Leonard Wood, MO, Branson, MO, and into Kansas.

Lake Wappapello Missouri State Park - Scenes and Park Review
Lake Wappapello Missouri State Park - Scenes and Park Review. Amie, and I had a relaxing weekend at Lake Wappapello State Park. This was our first time visiting the park. We would go back. I give it two thumbs up! I still like Johnson Shut-ins and Echo State Parks better. We did a little walking around the camp ground. I went on a bike ride. We had some good camp fires. Grilled some brats, hamburgers and pork steaks which all turned out great. Next time I’m bringing the kayaks. In this video I show some clips of the park our campground, camp fire, grilling, some deer and the lake itself. Also we walked up to the Park Office and saw a bunch of humming birds. We had a good Memorial Day weekend.
“Lake Wappapello State Park is the ideal vacation spot for a day or a week. The park offers a modern campground and cabins plus rustic camper cabins. Miles of trail for hikers, backpackers and horseback riders offer great scenery and picturesque views. With easy access to Lake Wappapello, the park offers opportunities for boaters, including canoers and kayakers, and anglers searching for crappie, catfish and bass.”

MISSOURI ROAD VAN TRAVELS-LAKE WAPPAPELLO
Lake Wappapello is a reservoir on the St. Francis River, formed by Wappapello Dam (36°55′55″N 90°16′45″W). Created in 1941, this 45,000-acre (180 km2) lake is located 120 miles (190 km) south of St. Louis, Missouri. Its primary purpose is flood control though it has evolved into a recreational area with ample opportunities to boat, fish, swim or camp. The fish population of the lake include white bass, largemouth bass, crappie, and bluegill. The reservoir lies overwhelmingly in Wayne County, but its southernmost reaches (near the dam) extend into northern Butler County. Lake Wappapello State Park lies on the southwestern side of the lake.
Both the dam and reservoir are owned and operated by the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
