Hey, we did Lake Wedington today! We Decided to do something local (Fayetteville, AR)!!! We got started hiking about 9:40 Saturday. That morning the temp was really cold 20ish with a 50% to sleet/snow. This trail is about 7 3/4 mile one way and 15.5ish in total, it kind of a bummer that the trail is not a loop so you have to come back the way you hiked...If you didn't want to do the return trip you can park you car off the road that is close to the end of trail. The name of that road is county road 867. You can always look at goggle earth to see some pictures and road names!! It would also make a great bike ride back to the trail head if one so inclined!!! Now there is NO water next to the camp ground at the top of the mountain: however you could take the spur trail that leads down to the Illinois River that trail split is at (20:28) in the video. I think that is .7 miles from that trail spilt also there is a camp ground down there! That night was about 28ish or so not bad with a good fire. When I was there they had done a lot of tree cutting and there was ton of big log to burn, we had a really nice big fire!!! The following morning was cool just the amount of cold for some hot food and good coffee!! On the way back it started to sleet and snow but it didn't have enough time to accumulate while we were there. Over all this is a very good trail for beginners there is not much elevation change at most 200 feet most of the trail winds around on pretty level ground some little hills but nothing that young kids couldn't do!!!

In the 1930s, the lake and recreation area were built under the guidance of the Soil Conservation Service. The Forest Service acquired the land in 1954 and restored the buildings, and the location is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Lake Wedington Hiking Trail- Arkansas Ozarks

This is usually a pretty area but with all of the water gone it was just missing something, (the lake) but there was some water and a few things to see. All in all I’m glad I went and I’d go back again.
