Sudden Valley Campground RV Park Bellingham WA Near Lake Whatcom - Bellingham Wa Camping
The Sudden Valley RV Campground Bellingham Washington is in Sudden Valley WA near the shores of beautiful Lake Whatcom in Whatcom county but you shouldn't load up your trailer or motorhome for the Sudden Valley RV park just yet. You can however make reservations for the near by Birch Bay State Park or Rasar State Park while spaces are available.
The Sudden Valley Campground itself has 100 campsites, many powered. The listings online for the campground states that it has clean restrooms, hiking trails, and beautiful grounds. The campground was developed as part of the master planned community of Sudden Valley just east of Bellingham in Northwest Washington. The Sudden Valley Campground and RV park catered to both Americans and Canadians who have vacations on the shores of Lake Whatcom for generations.
If you are planning your RV camping trip to the Sudden Valley Campground you may want to call ahead because the park is now closed. The setting and geographic location of the campground is excellent so don't be surprised if the Sudden Valley Campgrounds are open again someday soon. They already have power and water, as well as sewer system hooked up to the parks 3 bathroom/shower pavilions and the roads laid out throughout the park so it shouldn't take too much to renovate the campground for business.
The Sudden Valley campground would also make an excellent summer camp. Even if the sites were not powered, if the restrooms were painted and cleaned up and the grounds mowed it would be a very desirable Northwest Washington Campground.
The actual address for the Sudden Valley Campaground is 2311 Lake Louise Blvd, Bellingham Washington 98226
Please Note: The Sudden Valley Campground / RV Park is currently closed but the community of Sudden Valley is thriving and its golf course is open to residents and nonresidents. Sudden Valley is one of the most desirable lakefront communities in the Bellingham area with hiking trails, golf course, marina, and several lakefront parks.

Bellingham Washington Hiking Trails - The Amazing Stimpson Family Preserve East Of Bellingham WA
Bellingham Washington is fortunate to have many excellent hiking trails including the Stimpson Family Nature Preserve. On the Stimpson hiking trail you will find a combination of wetlands, beaver ponds and old growth forests that are unique even for a place like Bellingham, what's more it's only about 6 miles from downtown Bellingham.
Much of the Stimpson Preserve trail is hiking through the fern covered forest under a canopy of trees but there are viewing points for the large glacier carved wetland lakes/ponds. These secluded wetlands don't go unused. They attract a large variety of wildlife including beavers, otters, ducks, geese, and an assortment of usual forest creatures like Raccoons, Deer, Lynx Cats, and maybe a coyote or two.
The Stimpson Family preserve was made possible in 2003 due to a generous land gift from the Stimpson family. The combination of the Stimpson Family lands with other conservation lands now makes the park about 350 acres.
To get to the Stimpson Family Nature Preserve travel west on Lakeway Drive and turn right on Austin rd which becomes Lake Louise Drive. The Preserve parking/staging lot is about 6 miles from downtown Bellingham near Sudden Valley. Other nearby trails include the Lookout Mountain Trail about a mile or so further down Lake Louise Rd. And the Hertz lakeside trail on Northshore Drive on the other side of the lake.

Downtown Bellingham Wa Things To Do - One Of The Healthiest Cities In Western Washington
Subdued Excitement In Downtown Bellingham Washington. Downtown Bellingham WA has many restaurants, clubs and bars to keep you entertained or at least distracted day and night. Many club venues have live music at night and on weekends.
The Downtown area near Bellingham's waterfront has an upscale urban village look and feel that has been intentionally fostered to help local businesses compete with other larger shopping corridors like Guide Meridian Ave. and Bellis Fair Mall.
Over the last decade there have been many new high rise condominiums built near downtown giving the area hundreds of residents happy to stroll the streets and frequent downtown businesses.
Night life in Downtown Bellingham is surprisingly lively and diverse perhaps due to Bellingham's College Town status--- Bellingham is home to Western Washington University.
If you're looking for things to do in Downtown Bellingham you might want to consider checking out are Museums including the SPARK museum, home to the awesome Megazapper Tesla Coil.
Bellingham's waterfront is also a popular staging area for vising the San Juan Islands. Along the downtown waterfront you will find whale watching tour operators and charter companies.

Time Lapse Drive: Mount Baker to Bellingham, Washington - SR 542
March 31, 2019 - It's a beautiful day in early spring - what better time to go for a Sunday Drive along the Mount Baker Highway, a National Forest Scenic Byway in Washington State!
Starting at the Mount Baker Ski Resort - the eastern terminus of State Route 542 - I drive the entire length of the highway westbound to its western terminus and beyond to the centre of Downtown Bellingham: Boundary Bay Brewing! Gotta get my growler filled up, after all!

Lake Padden Park in Bellingham, WA, USA
Trip to Lake Padden Park in Bellingham, Washington, United States on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. The park is a popular tourist destination that features numerous picnic areas and playgrounds. Many trails are located around the lake and the surrounding forest area that are used for hiking and biking. A public golf course is located along the eastern shore. A 1000-foot ridge separates the lake from I-5 (Interstate 5 highway) to the south.
The park entrances on the north provide easy drive-up access to playgrounds, a golf course, horse trails, picnic pavilions, swimming and fishing beaches, grass lawns, a boat launch dock, tennis courts, ball fields, trailheads as well as a tiny fishing dock. The 2.6-mile loop around Lake Padden provides a nice forest experience sputtered with occasional rock outcrops coupled with beautiful lakeside views. There are two picnic shelters at the park that are available for reservation. Check availability @

About this Airport:
Bellingham International Airport (IATA: BLI, ICAO: KBLI, FAA LID: BLI) is three miles (5 km) northwest of Bellingham, in Whatcom County, Washington, and the third-largest commercial airport in Washington.[2] Due to the airport's close proximity to British Columbia, Canada, it is a low fare alternative airport to the Vancouver International Airport. On the Allegiant website the airport is referred to as Bellingham/Vancouver.
The newly constructed gate area has five gates, a coffee shop and a restaurant with a bar. The second phase of the terminal expansion will add a baggage carousel in addition to larger ticketing and pre-security areas for passengers, should have been completed in phases beginning in 2012 and with completion expected by 2015.
History[edit]
BLI - FAA airport diagram.png
In 1936 Whatcom County obtained 200 acres (0.81 km2) for an airport at the current airport site. Three runways were planned, but it took almost four years to get the first 5000' x 150' runway cleared and paved. Temporary Port of Entry status was secured early, but the slow construction left it in a continually tenuous state – United Airlines would only base there if the field were safe enough for their DC-3s, and it maintained its Port of Entry status. Ultimately they built a terminal, designed by F. Stanley Piper, and the airport was dedicated in 1940, having employed more than 500 people.
In 1940 the United States Army Corps of Engineers took over the facility and expanded it to three full runways, revetments for parking aircraft, and development of personnel quarters. During World War II the airport was used by Fourth Air Force immediately after the Pearl Harbor Attack for air defense of the Pacific Coast. It was later used by Air Transport Command and Air Technical Service Command as an intermediate ferrying field for Lend-Lease aircraft being flown to Alaska for subsequent transfer to the Soviet Union.
The United States Army Air Forces closed the facility in September 1946, and it was turned over to the War Assets Administration for disposal. It slowly was returned to Whatcom County and was redeveloped as a civil airport in the late 1940s. With the rising costs and need for repairs, Whatcom county sold the Airport to the Port of Bellingham for one dollar in 1957. Because of costs, the Port of Bellingham could only resurface the longest of the runways (16/34).[3] 16/34 is still the only runway used as it provides adequate year-round wind coverage for aircraft servicing Bellingham. The two diagonal runways have fallen into disrepair, their easternmost ends used as taxiways between tarmacs and the sole remaining runway.
Airline service from Bellingham had a modest beginning. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, Harbor Airlines, a commuter air carrier based in Washington, operated nonstop shuttle service to Seattle/Tacoma International Airport with small Britten-Norman Islander twin prop aircraft.[4] By the mid 1980s, Harbor Air had been replaced by San Juan Airlines, a commuter air carrier based in Bellingham which operated shuttle flights to Seattle/Tacoma with Embraer EMB-110 B
