( Eng/Pol ) Augustow numbering some 30,000 residents and situated in the western part of the Augustów Forest (Poland), with three lakes nearby (Necko, Białe, and Sajne), Augustów was once called the Venice of the North.
In 1993, thanks to the healthy local climate and rich deposits of therapeutic muds, it gained the status of a spa.Treatment factor are essential oils and fitocydy secreted by conifers - they act bactericidal, normalizing blood pressure and heart rhythm, have a positive effect on the respiratory system.
Augustów liczy ok. 30.000 mieszkańców i leży w zachodniej części Puszczy Augustowskiej, w pobliżu trzech jezior (Necko, Białe i Sajne), Augustów był kiedyś nazywany Wenecją Północy.
W 1993 roku, dzięki zdrowemu mikroklimatowi i bogatym złożom błot leczniczych uzyskał status uzdrowiska. Czynnikiem leczniczym są oleje eteryczne i fitocydy wydzielane przez drzewa iglaste -- działają one bakteriobójczo, normalizując ciśnienie tętnicze krwi i rytm serca, wpływają korzystnie na drogi oddechowe.
W lecie miasto zamienia się w mekkę turystyczną - domy wczasowe, przystań jachtowa i plaże pękają w szwach.

Sezon w Augustowie, to zabawa na okrągło
Bardzo lubię pokazywać nasz Augustów w pozytywnym świetle, piękno otaczających nas terenów i innych niekwestionowanych walorów grodu nad rzeką Netta. Chyba po raz pierwszy jest to mniej pozytywny wizerunek miasta w sezonie. Część mieszkańców żyje z turystów, ale część po prostu tutaj mieszka - nawet chodzi do pracy w dzień. Aby normalnie funkcjonować i pracować, a pracują także w soboty i niedziele - muszą najnormalniej w świecie się wyspać. Jaki problem, niech śpią? Otóż taki, że w naszym mieście - chyba jedynym w Polsce – balować można całą noc i to bez żadnych ograniczeń, z tymi dotyczącymi odpowiednich zachowań nocą włącznie.
