Lakes Entrance Day at the Beach
January 10, 2014 - a day at the Beach at Lake Tyers Beach, 10kms north of Lakes Entrance.
Surf was pounding, but a sandbar 10m from the shoreline made it a safe, fun day.

Lakes Entrance is located 330 kilometres east of Melbourne Australia. It's known for the Gippsland Lakes, a vast system of inland waterways. The Gippsland Lakes are the largest inland waterway in Australia.
There is a pedestrian bridge (The Footbridge) over to the Ninety Mile Beach. The town and the beach are separated by the Cunningham Arm inlet. The 90 Mile beach faces out into Bass Straight.
Lakes Entrance has a day to day population of around 6,000 that swells to over 40,000 in the summer months. Visiting Lakes Entrance is very popular in the summer months.
Things to do in Lakes Entrance include the popular Entrance Walk which this video is about. The Entrance is one of the best places to see in Lakes Entrance.
The Entrance is where the ocean meets the Lakes. The Entrance was constructed during the late 18th century to allow better access to the Gippsland Lakes. There was a natural entrance that kept getting silted over and a permanent solution was needed.
The walk to the Entrance is a 5 kilometre 2-hour return trip, The walk can be done 3 ways. You can walk along the 90 Mile Beach, you can walk along Cunningham Arm or you can follow the trail through the sand dunes.
Once at the Entrance, you may be lucky enough to see seals or dolphins playing in the water or even a whale passing by in the ocean
Whichever way you choose to visit Lakes Entrance, either a day trip or a stay, no visit is complete without doing this walk.

Lakes Entrance is a coastal town in eastern Victoria, Australia. It's known for the Gippsland Lakes, a vast system of inland waterways. Wildlife around the beaches and lakes includes kangaroos, pelicans and dolphins. It is almost 320km from Melbourne. On the way to Lakes Enrance we found a lot of cows grazing and one of them was actually posing which we tried capturing. We also travelled to Buchan Caves which are limestone caves that include the Royal Cave and the fairy cave and are located at Buchan which is in East Gippsland. We visited the Royal Cave which you can see in this video as well.
