Inside Out of Mind in the finals of the National Lottery Awards
Nottingham Lakeside Arts together with Meeting Ground Theatre Company have reached the finals of this year’s National Lottery Awards with their production of Inside Out of Mind.
We are competing against six others to be crowned the winner of the Best Arts Project category in the competition to find the nation’s favourite Lottery-funded project.
Inside Out of Mind has powerfully touched the hearts and minds of everyone who has seen it, and has focused our attention most particularly on those who care for people with dementia. A vote for Inside Out of Mind isn’t just a vote for the play, it’s a vote and a thank you for every individual who cares for someone with dementia – NHS worker, care assistant, family member or friend. These people are the real heroes
It's really easy to vote - just go to or telephone 0844 836 9708 and follow the campaign on twitter: #NLAwards.

Harold Gilman: Beyond Camden Town Exhibition Trailer
The death of Harold Gilman in 1919 deprived British art of a vital and significant presence. In the last decade of his life his work displayed an increasing engagement with French Post-Impressionist painting and he developed a style quite unlike his erstwhile mentor, Walter Richard Sickert, and other Camden Town artists.
With his particular use of colour and paint, Gilman's images offer a highly individual view of modern urban life. His work has a powerful presence and realism, yet it remains enigmatic. In much of his mature painting, and especially the important group of works depicting his housekeeper Mrs. Mounter, Gilman created a distinctive vocabulary to explore the interiors and people living in London during the First World War.
This is the first significant exhibition of Gilman’s work since 1982. Bringing together works from both private collections as well as national institutions, it will reveal the innovation and pictorial power of an artist who died prematurely at the height of his artistic powers.

More info and book tickets:
A reimagining of Herman Melville's Moby Dick
Captain Ahab is hell-bent on capturing the white whale Moby Dick, a beast as vast and dangerous as the sea itself, yet serene and beautiful beyond all imagining. Ahab’s crew are drawn into the unhinged charisma of their captain, blindly following him towards almost certain destruction.
Multi-award winning choreographer James Wilton’s trademark blend of athletic dance, martial arts, capoeira and partner-work will have you on the edge of your seat. It will leave you gasping at the sheer ferocity of movement, accompanied by a powerful electro-rock soundtrack from Lunatic Soul.
LEVIATHAN is man versus nature; be careful what you fish for.

Getting Better Slowly - National Theatre Tour
Adam Pownall woke up to find his body was slowly shutting down. Unable to walk, talk or blink and nobody knew why…
When Guillain Barré Syndrome affected Adam it caused full paralysis within days. Getting Better Slowly tells the story of his illness through a creative collision of new writing, verbatim accounts, sound and movement. How does it feel when your closest relationship is with the illness that’s holding you back? Adam’s frank and moving account of how he dealt with GBS and the two years he spent recovering – including months spent learning how to walk and talk again – explores the relationship we all have with our bodies and our health. Telling his story with warmth, humour and honesty, and explaining how GBS is still part of his life, he invites audiences to consider how they would deal with an unexpected illness or accident affecting them or someone they love.
