Isle of Wight Lakeside Park Hotel & Spa review
We stayed at the Lakeside Park Hotel & Spa for 2 nights in March, 2017. The hotel is located on the East side of the Isle of Wight - Ryde. We booked an Executive Double Room as that was the only one available. We enjoyed our stay here and if we do come back to The island, will surely consider re-booking. The hotel has a lovely spa, we were only able to enjoy the 20 mins neck, back and shoulder massage as they were pretty full up on bookings but it was excellent and very relaxing. The hotel has a lovely pool, not too big but not too small either, a good jacuzzi, sauna and steam room too - All very enjoyable. The food at the Brasserie was good too. All in all a good hotel with good service and facilities.

A WEEKEND ON THE ISLE OF WIGHT IN AUTUMN
Hi guys, last week I spent 3 days roaming around the Isle of Wight! Given it was early October, I was surprised how quiet it was...it's like a calm, picturesque slice of England in the Solent. I went to Ryde, visited the Needles and roamed around finding the best things to do on the island.
So if you fancy an Autumn staycation without the hustle and bustle of the mainland, hop across the Solent and enjoy the Isle Of Wight :)
Note - Cowes Week takes place in August. I was merely saying what Cowes is famous for.

Langstone to Yarmouth IOW on Round The Island Race Day
The first video on our mission to find the best fish and chip shop on the Solent by boat! This time it is the Blue Crab Restaurant in Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight.
We had great sail in fabulous conditions - could have been a bit more wind but we did get to see the fleet competing in the Round The Island Race.
Yarmouth IOW is a lovely port town with many pubs and restaurants - one of which is the Blue Crab Restaurant. We were just a tad disappointed - while the fish was tasty and very fresh, snow white flesh and cooked just right, the batter was a somewhat oily and not quite top notch. The chips were ok(ish) although they were hand cut and cooked with care.
It was slow service and value that let them down - we had to wait forever and a day for our food - and it was pricey, £14 for two medium servings of cod and chips. The staff were all new and not at all confident in their service. We heard 'sorry' quite a lot and they even forgot to include the mayo we had paid for in our order. I was especially miffed that they insisted we moved out of the shop as we were putting on the salt and vinegar after just a few moment - pity they couldn't serve us as quickly. Not great. All in all I have had better for less - 7/10 (and that is only because the fish was so fresh).

Lake public toilets, Sandown, Isle of Wight HL Twyfords
A very large set of toilets built in the 'bungalow style' of the mid 20th century located in the Lake area of Sandown that do not seem to be maintained buy IOW council.
Strangely the area is mostly suburban with only a few shops near by and these are a very large and well maintained set on a plot of land that is larger than some of the nearby houses.
The men's have a few large ceramic urinals fed by an original ceramic cistern but just one wash basin.
There four WCs with Twyfords pans and LL Twyfords cisterns at HL, 2 SP and the other two TP and some are missing their chains. Despite my preference for Dudleys as replacement cisterns these always give excellent flushes.
These Twyfords at HL also appear in the toilets in Totland Bay on another side of the island which could hint that toilets where replaced at the same time which would have been after 1995 when the island was reorganised as one council and fewer toilets where handed to the parishes.
Rating: 9/10
Local council: Unknown
