Lal Lal Falls and the downstream gorge south of Ballarat on a misty winter's morning, after heavy rainfall earlier in the week. It includes views from both sides of the creek, namely from the picnic ground and from the Moorabool Falls Trail on the opposite bank.

Lal Lal Falls
Approximately 35 m high, Lal Lal Falls is located at the head of a gorge, bordered by steep cliffs along the Lal Lal Creek.
Basalt flows are exposed in the gorge in two layers, between 3 and 5 million years old. The earliest originated from a volcano near Clarkes Hill to the north. The later basalt flow came from the Mt Buninyong and Mt Warrenheip volcanic flows to the West. Waterfalls often develop on the edge of lava plateaus such as this site.
Over the last 2.5 Million Years the falls have migrated 1.5 Kilometers upstream.
Culturally, the falls are believed to be the home of Bunjil the eagle, the spiritual ancestor and creator for indigenous Kulin people from Victoria.

Originally went to look at the falls which was not flowing at the time and my drone was having a few issues, this content was all i could grab at this visit. My quality is slowing but surely getting better (hopefully) and still figuring out editing, its all learning and its fun.
The location where the actual falls are is pretty amazing, its like a big creator hole in the ground. i will definitely have to revisit soon

The Moorabool Falls are located on the Moorabool River West Branch, adjacent to the north-west corner of the Lal Lal Reserve, at the southern end of the Lal Lal water supply catchment (Central Highlands Water).
Like the larger Lal Lal Falls, the basalt base of the Moorabool Falls was formed by separate flows of viscous lava from a volcano near Clark's Hill, 20 kms to the north, between 2.5 - 5 million years ago.
Although considered the lesser of the two waterfalls, the Moorabool Falls, unlike Lal Lal falls, has a single drop so its 27 m descent forms the longest cascade of the two falls.
