About Lalbagh Fort:
Lalbagh Fort (also Fort Aurangabad) is an incomplete 17th century Mughal fort complex that stands before the Buriganga River in the southwestern part of Dhaka, Bangladesh.The construction was started in 1678 AD by Mughal Subahdar Muhammad Azam Shah who was son of Emperor Aurangzeb and later emperor himself. His successor, Shaista Khan, did not continue the work, though he stayed in Dhaka up to 1688. Source:

Lalbag Palace & Fort ticket for which you can pay 20 Taka bd. and SAARC countries 100 Taka & for foreigner countries 200 taka. I arrived around 4.30 pm to 6.00 pm and it was amazing place.

সম্রাট আওরঙ্গজেবের ৩য় পুত্র, মুঘল রাজপুত্র আজম শাহ বাংলার সুবাদার থাকাকালীন ১৬৭৮ সালে এটার নির্মাণকাজ শুরু করেন। তিনি বাংলায় ১৫ মাস ছিলেন। দুর্গের নির্মাণকাজ শেষ হবার আগেই মারাঠা বিদ্রোহ দমনের জন্য পিতা সম্রাট আওরঙ্গজেব তাকে দিল্লি ডেকে পাঠান। এসময় একটি মসজিদ ও দরবার হল নির্মাণের পর দুর্গ নির্মাণের কাজ থেমে যায়। সুবাদার শায়েস্তা খাঁ ১৬৮০ সালে পুনরায় বাংলার সুবাদার হিসেবে ঢাকায় এসে দুর্গের নির্মাণকাজ পুনরায় শুরু করেন। ১৬৮৪ সালে এখানে শায়েস্তা খাঁর কন্যা ইরান দুখত রাহমাত বানুর (পরী বিবি) মৃত্যু ঘটে। কন্যার মৃত্যুর পর শায়েস্তা খাঁ এ দুর্গটিকে অপয়া মনে করেন এবং ১৬৮৪ খ্রিস্টাব্দে অসমাপ্ত অবস্থায় এর নির্মাণকাজ বন্ধ করে দেন। লালবাগের কেল্লার তিনটি প্রধান স্থাপনার একটি হল পরী বিবির সমাধি। ঢাকা থেকে মুর্শিদাবাদে রাজধানী স্থানান্তর করা হয়েছিল; এটিই ছিল প্রধান কারণ। রাজকীয় মুঘল আমল সমাপ্ত হওয়ার পর দুর্গটি পরিত্যক্ত অবস্থায় রয়ে যায়। ১৮৪৪ সালে এলাকাটি আওরঙ্গবাদ নাম বদলে লালবাগ নাম পায় এবং দুর্গটি পরিণত হয় লালবাগ দুর্গে ।

ঢাকার ঐতিহাসিক ও ঐতিহ্যের বাহক লালবাগ কেল্লা, মোগল এ স্থাপনাতে সপ্তাহখানেক আগে ঘুরতে গিয়েছিলাম আমরা।
সময় শেষ হয়ে যাওয়ায় ভবনগুলোর ভেতরের দৃশ্য দেখা না হলেও শেষ বিকেলের আলোয় চমৎকার সময় কেটেছে এখানে।পরীবিবির মাজার, পুকুরসহ অনেক স্থাপনাই দেখানো হবে এখানে।
'লালবাগের কেল্লা (কিলা আওরঙ্গবাদ) ঢাকার দক্ষিণ-পশ্চিমাঞ্চলে বুড়িগঙ্গা নদীর তীরে অবস্থিত একটি অসমাপ্ত মুঘল দুর্গ।এটির নির্মাণকাজ শুরু হয়েছিল ১৬৭৮ সালে, মুঘল সুবাদার মুহাম্মদ আজম শাহ কর্তৃক, যিনি ছিলেন সম্রাট আওরঙ্গজেবের পুত্র এবং পরবর্তীতে নিজেও সম্রাট পদপ্রাপ্ত হয়েছিলেন। তার উত্তরসুরী, মুঘল সুবাদার শায়েস্তা খাঁ ১৬৮০ সালে নির্মাণকাজ পুনরায় শুরু করেন, কিন্তু শেষ করেননি।লালবাগ কেল্লার তিনটি স্থাপনার মধ্যে অন্যতম এটি। এখানে পরি বিবি সমাহিত আছেন। শায়েস্তা খাঁ তাঁর কন্যার স্মরণে এই মনমুগ্ধকর মাজারটি নির্মাণ করেন। লালবাগ কেল্লার তিনটি বিশাল দরজার মধ্যে বর্তমানে জনসাধারণের জন্যে উন্মুক্ত মাত্র একটি দরজা। এই দরজা দিয়ে ঢুকলে বরাবর সোজা চোখে পড়ে পরি বিবির সমাধি। আসলে লালবাগ কেল্লা বলতে যেই ছবিটি বেশী পরিচিত সেটি মূলত পরি বিবির সমাধির ছবি। পরি বিবি যার অন্য নাম ইরান দুখত রাহমাত বানু ছিলেন বাংলার মুঘল শায়েস্তা খাঁর কন্যা। মুঘল সম্রাট আওরঙ্গজেবের পুত্র শাহজাদা আজম এর সাথে ১৬৬৮ সালের ৩ মে পরি বিবির বিয়ে হয়। ১৬৮৪ সালে পরী বিবির অকালমৃত্যুর পর তাঁকে নির্মাণাধীন লালবাগ কেল্লার অভ্যন্তরে সমাহিত করা হয়। তাঁর সমাধীস্থলকে চিহ্নিত করে পরী বিবির মাজার নির্মিত হয়। পরি বিবির মাজার এর স্থাপনাটি চতুষ্কোণ। মার্বেল পাথর, কষ্টি পাথর ও বিভিন্ন রং এর ফুল-পাতা সুশোভিত চাকচিক্যময় টালির সাহায্যে অভ্যন্তরীণ নয়টি কক্ষ অলংকৃত করা হয়েছে। মাঝের একটি ঘরে পরি বিবির সমাধিস্থল এবং এই ঘরটি ঘিরে আটটি ঘর আছে। স্থাপনাটির ছাদ করবেল পদ্ধতিতে কষ্টি পাথরে তৈরি এবং চারকোণে চারটি অষ্টকোণ মিনার ও মাঝে একটি অষ্টকোণ গম্বুজ আছে। মূল সমাধিসৌধের কেন্দ্রীয় কক্ষের উপরের এই গম্বুজটি একসময়ে স্বর্ণখচিত ছিল, পরবর্তীতে পিতলের/তামার পাত দিয়ে পুরো গম্বুজটিকে মুড়িয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে। স্থাপনাটির অভ্যন্তর ভাগ সাদা মার্বেল পাথর দিয়ে আচ্ছাদিত। ২০.২ মিটার বর্গাকৃতির এই সমাধিটি ১৬৮৮ খ্রিস্টাব্দের পুর্বে নির্মিত। তবে এখানে পরি বিবির মরদেহ বর্তমানে নেই বলে বিশেষজ্ঞদের অভিমত।'--উইকিপিডিয়া

Shaista Khan was the new Subedar (Governor) of Dhaka in that time, and he did not complete the fort. In 1684, the daughter of Shaista Khan named Iran Dukht (Pari Bibi) died there. After her death, he started thinking the fort as ominous, and left the structure incomplete.

Lal bagh Fort is the most popular and renowned fort and a Grand signature of art by Mughal Empire.
Mughal prince Muhammad Azam, third son of Aurangzeb started the work of the fort in 1678 during his vice-royalty in Bengal. He stayed in Bengal for 15 months. The fort remained incomplete when he was called away by his father Aurangzeb.

Shaista Khan was the new subahdar of Dhaka in that time, and he did not complete the fort. In 1684, the daughter of Shaista Khan named Iran Dukht Pari Bibi died there.
After her death, he started to think the fort as unlucky, and left the structure incomplete.
Among the three major parts of Lalbagh Fort, one is the tomb of Pari Bibi.
After Shaista Khan left Dhaka, it lost its popularity. The main cause was that the capital was moved from Dhaka to Murshidabad. After the end of the royal Mughal period, the fort became abandoned. In 1844, the area acquired its name as Lalbagh replacing Aurangabad, and the fort became Lal bagh Fort/Lal bagh kella (লালবাগকেল্লা).
It is now become most visited place in Bangladesh.

### Lalbagh Fort (Lalbag kella) is located on the banks of the Buriganga River in the northwest of Dhaka.
From the time of construction till date, various myths have revolved around the fort. Among all the historical stories and debates, it is widely believed that Lalbagh Fort stands as a monument of the unfulfilled dreams of Prince Muhammad Azam, beloved son of Emperor Aurangzeb. In the mid Seventeen century, he was serving as the Viceroy of Bengal and began the construction of the impressive Lalbagh Fort.
Before the full construction, Prince Azam was called back to his father, to assist in the war against the Marathas. Legend says, after the Mughal prince departed, Shaista Khan continued with building the project, but upon the untimely death of his much-loved daughter Iran-Dukht, warmly known as Pari Bibi, the construction was stopped.Locals believe, after her demise, on every full moon, Pari Bibi comes down on the fort, sings, dances and moves around it.

### In nineteen hundred seventy four the Department of Archaeology took over the land and decided to restore the fort.
There are also legends and debates about the identity of Pari Bibi. Few researchers claim she was a nine-year-old Ahom princess. Mir Jumals Ahom's expedition brought a war adjoining the Garo hills. He took the daughter of Ahom Raja to compel him for the full execution of the previous peace treaty. Later, the emperor made her convert to Islam and married her off to prince Azam. However, overshadowing all the debates, people now believe that she was the loving daughter of Nawab Shaista Khan.
Pari Bibi's mausoleum is a unique Mughal architecture in Bangladesh. To embellish its interior, black basalt stone from Rajmahal, white marble from Jaipur and encaustic tiles of diffirent colours were used.Originally, there were water reservoirs with fountains on four sides of the tomb. The four corner turrets are crowned with cupolas.The interior of the building has nine chambers. The central room is the mausoleum of Pari Bibi.The square tomb stands on a stone platform raised and situated between the mosque and the audience hall on the central axis.
The grand fort has a hidden passage, popularly known as Shurongo Path.People explane it was connected with another parts of river.Every day many tourist and forener come to enjoy them self in lalbag fort/lalbag kella (লালবাগকেল্লা)
