Lamai Beach Road by day - Koh Samui Travel Vlog
Koh Samui Travel Vlog. This is a drive through tour of Lamai Beach, a popular tourist destination located on the tropical island of Koh Samui (Ko Samui, Samui) in Thailand. This tour of Lamai Beach is filmed in a POV (point of view) perspective from the back of a Songthaew taxi, which is the local public transport on the island of Koh Samui.
The journey begins on the main Koh Samui Ring Road where we have just turned onto the Lamai Beach Road, we then proceed to drive all the way through Lamai passing various hotels, restaurants and bars including one of Lamai´s top attractions the Water Park Called, Coco Splash Adventure & Waterpark. The journey ends when we once again meet up with the Koh Samui Main Ring Road where you can turn left to visit Koh Samui´s top attractions Grandmother and Grandfather Rocks (Hin Yai & Hin Ta), or turn right to drive to one of Koh Samui´s most popular and oldest beach resorts, Chaweng Beach.
WikiTravel writes about Lamai Beach, The southern third of the beach has the widest strip of sand, is the best for swimming, and has the most nearby eating and drinking and shopping options. To the north, the water doesn't get deep enough for swimming until you're quite some distance out, and the further north you go, the narrower and quieter the beach becomes, eventually becoming rocky towards the headland....
Wiki writes about Koh Samui, Ko Samui (or Koh Samui, Thai: เกาะสมุย, Thai pronunciation: [kɔ̀ sàmūj]) is an island off the east coast of the Kra Isthmus, Thailand. Geographically in the Chumphon Archipelago, it is administratively part of Surat Thani Province. Ko Samui is Thailand's second-largest island after Phuket, with an area of 228.7 km2, a population of over 63,000 and a hotel occupancy rate of 73% as the number of visitors increases.Abundant tourist resources, sandy beaches, coral reefs, and coconut trees are present on the island...
Wiki writes about the Songthaew taxi, A songthaew (Malay: dua baris; Thai สองแถว, literally two rows; Lao: ສອງແຖວ [sɔ̌ːŋtʰíw]) is a passenger vehicle in Thailand and Laos adapted from a pick-up or a larger truck and used as a share taxi or bus...

Lamai Beach in Koh Samui - Top Beach - Koh Samui travel video
Lamai Beach - One of Koh Samuis top beaches. We are on Lamai Beach located on the tropical island of Koh Samui, a Thailand island located in the warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand. This Thailand holiday footage is filmed on Lamai Beach one of the top beaches on Koh Samui Island. Lamai Beach is located a few minutes drive south from one of the islands other top beaches Chaweng Beach and is located in the town of Lamai also called Lamai Beach.
This footage is filmed at the southern end of Lamai Beach where there are more rocks which in turn make for very good snorkeling. The southern part of the beach is also more protected from the wind beacause of the large rocks protecting this little corner. The quality of the video footage is not as good as our usual videos as we have used our cheaper beach camera to film this footage (I prefer not to leave a more expensive camera to be exposed to the hot sun / and risk of theft when I am spending a whole day at a beach. Future beach and swimming videos should have a better quality as I have now purchased a GoPro Hero 3+ black action camera. Being small and waterproof this camera is very versatile.
Lamai Beach is Koh Samuis second largest tourist resort area second only to Chaweng Beach and is also the islands second largest beach, also only second to the very popular Chaweng Beach which lies north of Lamai Beach. Lamai Beach is one of Koh samuis best beaches so whether you choose to live in Lamai Beach or not, when you visit Thailand, a day trip or excursion to Lamai Beach and its town are a very worthwhile trip to make. Lamai Beach is easily accessible by motorcycle, tuktuk, taxi or rented car from Chaweng Beach, Bophut are many of the other smaller tourist areas close by on the island.

Silver Beach - Between Chaweng Beach & Lamai Beach - Koh Samui travel video
We are at Silver Beach on the island of Koh Samui in Thailand. Silver Beach is one of the best paradise beaches located on the island and is definitely worth a visit for any traveler wanting to get away from the hype of the more touristy beaches such as Chaweng Beach and Lamai Beach.
Silver Beach is of course also full of tourists (few beaches in Thailand aren´t) but it is a smaller place which does not have sunbeds, loud bars and relatively few hawkers (ladies and gents selling things on the beach). During June and July (the early season) visitors can almost have this place to themselves as can be soon on this footage actually filmed in June. Silver Beach also called Crystal Bay because the Crystal Bay Resort is located there is a little sheltered bay which lies between Chaweng Beach and Lamai Beach (when it´s windy on Lamai or Chaweng Beach this secluded Bay is the place to be. Silver Beach bay is easily reached by rented motorcycle, taxi or Songthaew (tuktuk). When travelling by taxi or tuktuk just tell the driver that you want to go to Silver Beach (most of them know the place) and if they don´t know it try saying that you want to go to the Crystal Bay Resort (that helps too), The journey from Chaweng Beach to Silver Beach by taxi costs around 300 Baht and the trip by Songthaew costs 100 Baht per person (these prices are from a trip to Koh Samui in June 2014). One does not have to be more than three people before a private taxi becomes cheaper than the local public transport (however it is more fun riding to the beach in an open Songthaew on a hot sunny day). If you are arriving by rented motorcycle you will find plenty of parking in front of the Silver Beach resort. You enter the beach by the Silver Beach resort which also has one of the few restaurants on the beach and toilet facilities for customers. Despite very little competition the restaurants prices are very reasonable and they serve both Thai and western food. When ordering Club sandwiches or Burgers just don't expect your plate to be overflowing with chips (pommes frites or French fries), you can often count the amount of chips with two hands and asking for extra chips does not help. You can of course order extra chips separately. Travelers should be aware that the difference in the tides on the beach in high season (December and January) and low season (June and July) is quite extreme. The tide is higher in high season and lower in low season, which means there will be more beach in the lower season. That also means that the beach, particularly Silver Beach will look very different in high and low season (rocks will be submerged and the water will be deeper in high season).
Silver Beach is by far one of the top Koh Samui beaches and a worthwhile day excursion for swimming and snorkeling for the whole family.
This Koh Samui beach footage is filmed in June at Silver Beach, a small paradise bay located between Chaweng Beach and Lamai Beach easily reached by motorcycle, taxi or tuk tuk (Songthaew). The footage is shot with a Canon Powershot SX210, hence the lower quality of our footage compared to our other uploads. We also like to swim at our beach destinations and do not want to risk having our more expensive photography equipment stolen while we are out swimming. We have just bought a GoPro Hero 3+ Black which we ill be using for hopefully better beach filming in the future. The Gopro Hero 3+ Black is very versatile as it films with an impressive resolution while at the same time it is waterproof and small which means that it can be kept with the photographer at all times (even when swimming).

Lamai Beach Road drive - Koh Samui travel video
We are on the way to Lamai Beach. We took a local Songthaew pickup (tuk tuk public transport) from Chaweng Beach to Lamai. This taxi cost us 200 Baht for two people. The same trip with a private taxi costs around 300 Baht, but as I have written before; it is more fun riding in the back of the open pickup and stopping and picking up locals and fellow travellers on the way.
Be sure to negotiate and haggle the price before you begin your journey My experience has always been that an agreed price is always the price I pay (no sudden extra charges). The start price for this drive to Lamai Beach from Chaweng Beach was 300 Baht for the Songthaew pickup and 400 Baht for a normal taxi (as you can see worth the haggle).
This Lamai Beach driving footage is of our vehicle entering Lamai Beach and driving up the main Lamai Beach Beach Road. Travelers planning a trip to Lamai Beach in Koh Samui are given a nice view of what the town of Lamai Beach looks like. On our drive through Lamai on the main Lamai Beach Road travelers get an idea of the many bars, restaurants, shops, hotels, massage salons etc. that are available to travelers who choose to spend their holiday at a Lamai Hotel, apartment or resort. This footage is filmed on route from Chaweng Beach to Lamai Beach from the back of a Songthaew pickup (tuk tuk public transport). We are on the island of Koh Samui, Thailand which lies in the Gulf of Thailand and is close to the islands of Koh Phangan, Angthong and Kho Tao.

Chaweng Beach - Walking Down Chaweng Beach Road - Koh Samui travel vlog
This is daytime footage of Chaweng Beach Road located at Chaweng Beach on the island of Koh Samui (Ko Samui) in Thailand. Chaweng Beach which lies between the popular tourism area of Bophut Beach in the north (north of Koh Samui Airport) and Lamai Beach further south is one of the islands most popular tourist attractions and places to stay.
Chaweng Beach is said to have one of Koh Samuis Best beaches along with Lamai Beach and BoPhut Beach. Chaweng Beach Road where this footage is filmed is where much of the the nightlife, shopping, hotels, bars and restaurants are located. It is also the location of the brand new shopping mall in Koh Samui (Koh Samui´s CentralFestival Samui shopping mall). The CentralFestival Samui Shopping mall opened up in March 2014. The video footage is filmed on Chaweng Road in the morning (beginning of video, just next to Chaweng Road) and on the main Chaweng Beach Road during the late afternoon where one can see shop owners, restaurant staff and bar staff preparing their businesses for the busy evenings at the holiday town of Chaweng Beach.
This video footage is filmed at Chaweng Beach on Chaweng Beach Road in the daytime (morning and afternoon). Chaweng Beach lies between the other popular Koh Samui tourist areas which are called BoPhut and Lamai Beach.
Wikitravel writes about Chaweng Beach, Chaweng is the largest and most popular of Samui's beaches, and is usually divided into four sections: North Chaweng, Central Chaweng, South Chaweng and Chaweng Noi (Little Chaweng) which is around a headland and at the southern most tip of Chaweng. Chaweng Beach is approximately 7 km long, making it the longest beach on the east coast. It is lined with coconut trees and boasts year long, warm (temperatures range between 25-28°C.) emerald-blue waters in the Gulf of Thailand....

It’s also home to luxury resorts, high-end spas and a vibrant nightlife scene that attracts a young crowd.
Koh Samui Drive from Bangrak to Chaweng Beach Road - Koh Samui Travel Vlogs
Koh Samui Travel Vlogs. We are in Koh Samui Thailand and are in the Bangrak part of the island, close to the Big Buddha and the Bangrak Pier where tourists arrive and depart to other parts of Thailand. We have just been visiting these two areas and are now about to catch a Songthaew taxi, which will drive us back to Chaweng Beach where our hotel is located on Chaweng Beach Road.
Whether you are a first time tourist planning a holiday on Koh Samui or a regular Koh Samui holiday visitor, we are sure that you will enjoy watching the sights go by as we drive from Bangrak to Chaweng Beach (one of Ko Samuis most popular beaches).
Songthaew taxis are the Koh Samui Public Transport service used by both locals and tourists. The price for tourists is typically 100 Baht per person for most destinations between Lamai Beach, Bophut and Chaweng Beach. This particular drive cost 200 Baht from Bangrak to Chaweng Beach. A regular taxi fare around Lamai, Bophut and Chaweng ranges between 300-500 Baht, so if you are many people it can be more profitable for you to take a taxi, although you will miss out on the atmosphere and fun of riding in the back of the Songthaew taxi hooting and stopping to pick people up on the way.

Koh Samui Top 5 Things To Do
Koh Samui is Thailand’s second largest island and has an area of nearly 230 square kilometers. The easiest way to get here is to fly in, in under an hour from the capital. Or fly to Surat Thani and take a ferry in.
5. Koh Samui’s to-die-for beaches. Chaweng is the most popular beach on the island. It’s 6kms of soft white sand and along the way there is countless bars, restaurants and good shopping. If you like your beaches more private then you should head to Chaweng Cove – a sneaky spot where you can basically swim and sun alone. And a shout out to Lamai Beach for good mix of active and serene.
4. View Point Options on Samui because the island has many hills, its full of incredible places to see the view.
The view Point at Hin Ta Hin Yai is a must see. This is a very popular photo spot and its not just cause the beach is incredibly scenic. The famous rocks here look remarkably like male and female ‘organs’ shall we say. Then for a cheeky 10 baht you can climb to the very top and get a 360 degree view of the whole area and finally the Jungle Club.
3. Spa Options.
Six Senses Samui – each treatment room is set in luxury jungle huts overlooking the ocean and something you HAVE to try if you come here is the Amazing Senses 4 Hands. I swear you will be literally zinging from head to toe.
Tamarind Springs – here the feeling is about being at one with nature. The massage rooms are outdoors and all their staff studies yoga and meditation daily so their energies can be rejuvenating to the clients. Quick tip – don’t miss out on the organic breakfast and post massage juices! But the highlight HAS to be the natural pools and saunas built inside a huge rock.
2. Experiencing Local and International Dishes.
A must do for those who like seafood is the Bophut Fisherman Village. This happens every Friday, and the main streets fill up with food and cute craft vendors. This is a spot for families and there is live music too, but if street delights are your kind of thing then head here with an empty stomach and don’t miss the freshly barbequed items!
For fine dining, my personal pick is Zazen Restaurant at the resort of the same name also in Bophut. If you are in the mood for romance – come here! The restaurant is decked out in Moroccan finery, but serves Mediterranean and Thai infused cuisine.
1. Mountain Tour at Namuang Safari Park
So why is it number one? It combines family, fun, nature, adventure, animals and much more. At this one place you can sign up for Elephant trekking, 4×4 mountain exploring, Quad bikes and cable riding

Lamai Beach Koh Samui Thailand - Exploring Koh Samui South
Lamai Beach Koh Samui is the second largest beach on Koh Samui Thailand. This video explores south Koh Samui Island by motorbike including Lamai Beach as well as other smaller beaches, quieter beaches, secret gardens and the Best View Point in Samui.
The video starts with Crystal Bay Beach Koh Samui, then Lamai Beach which is the second largest beach on Koh Samui Thailand after Chaweng Beach (see my last video here: youtu.be/H0ioiK91Hz8 ). If you are looking for a quieter beach then Lipa Noi Beach may be the beach for you.
Driving between Lamai Beach and other beaches on Koh Samui and you may also discover, like I did, the Best View Point in Samui and the Tarnim Magic Garden also known as the Secret Buddha Garden.
I hope this video helps you plan your holiday to Koh Samui, give it a thumbs up if it did, or a thumbs down if it didn't. Don't forget to subscribe to the channel for more travel vlogs in Thailand and follow me on Twitter: @Travelwithsimo1; Instagram: @travel_with_simon and Facebook
