Laman Padi - Rice Museum - Langkawi
This place is or supposed to be a rice museum showcasing the history of rice cultivation in Malaysia and it has a working rice farm attached. Well, that time we've been there there was not a soul and nothing was open. The location is pretty convenient though, as it is at the end of Pantai Cenang.
Langkawi 2017 Ep6: Swimming in Frangipani Hotel | Laman Padi | Firefly Flight Delay
We have finally come to the 2nd last episode to our Langkawi 2017 trip. So on the last day in Langkawi, we decided to hang around in the hotel until check out.
Went for breakfast, same crowd again and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. After that, we thought of having a massage, but the massage lady only starts at 10.30am. Which is sorta not good because it will keep us hanging in time management.
So we decided to go for a dip in the pool. The sea looked inviting but the pool looked more inviting. We even tried the jacuzzi by the pool. There are 2 jacuzzis there and it was pretty alright.
After about an hour in the pool, we got ready and bid farewell to our home for 3 days. We then drove towards Pantai Cenang to head to our next touristy spot. Laman Padi!
We have heard so much about it and it was really nice to see so much greenery. We didn't visit the museum so I can't really tell you much about the history of lamas padi or the timeline even. But the parking was free and the entrance to Laman Padi was free. Btw, Laman means Garden and Padi is Paddy.
There's also a restaurant there called Seashells Restaurant. They serve Nasi Campur (mixed dishes with rice) and they start from 2pm till night. The restaurant is opened everyday except Wednesday. Laman Padi is opened to public everyday.
We only spent about half hour at Laman Padi and then we walked along Jalan Pantai Cenang (street along Cenang Beach) before settling down for lunch at Happy Happy Cenang restaurant. It is a halal Chinese seafood restaurant. Although we ordered quite a lot for 2 person, we just wanted to try different dishes, didn't manage to finish it (sorry for wasting food), but it was delicious!
We then started heading to LGK airport. Waze was saying something else and the signboards were saying something else. So, I followed Waze and we were led to some alleys along people's houses and a road construction site. It looked like it might be closed far ahead so we had to backtrack.
Finally got back on Jalan Pantai Cenang again and off we go! It takes about 15-20mins to reach LGK. Boo dropped me off to return the rented car while I completed our check-in for our flight.
This time we did not check-in online and did not select our seats, just to try out if we are able to sit next to each other. By not buying the seats, we save RM 20 each. And because the load was so light on this afternoon flight, we were able to get 12DF, just next to each other!
So as we were walking about the small terminal, there was a dreaded PA being broadcasted. Ladies and gentleman, passengers on flight FY 2055, codesharing with Malaysia Airlines MH xxxx bound for Subang is now rescheduled to depart at 3.55pm, I repeat, 3.55pm.
Say what?!! That's like an hour delay! Boooooo.....
I know delays and weather are like unavoidable to some extent and being in aviation, I should like be so understanding towards it. But being the passenger part of me, of course I am not happy as well.
What to do? Just rant a little and move on with life. Lol.
So, were we delayed for only an hour or were we delayed further??

Hello all! This is a vlog all the way from Feb 2019 and I only managed to edit it now, but better late than never. We went to Langkawi to spend Chinese New Year with my grandma (she likes it there cause we don't have to do much) and the vlog really is just us relaxing and spending time doing nothing.
We did go to Seashells Chenang for a meal by the paddy fields (although it was bald) and it was one of the more memorable meals of the trip! Also accidentally caught a HUGE sunset by the Cenang beach in the evening - it was very beautiful. Highly recommended for those who're looking for a sunset!
Address of Seashells Chenang
Laman Padi, Jalan Pantai Cenang, Mukim Kedawang, 07000, Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia, 07000 Langkawi
Opens 1-3PM and 6-11PM
