One Day Visit In OOTY ! Dolphin Nose ! Lamb's Rock ! Sim's Park ! Wellington
400 kms hills ride.
Ooty, in the Southern Indian State of Karnataka, is called the Queen of hill stations and is the capital of Nilgiris district. It is one of the most popular tourist resorts in India. Nilgiris means Blue Mountains. It is a land of picturesque picnic spots. Used to be popular summer and weekend getaway for the Britishers during the colonial days. It is situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level.
An added attraction for the tourists to Ooty is the mountain train journey (also called the toy train) on a ratchet and pinion track which commences from Kallar, near Mettupalayam and wends its way through many hair-raising curves and fearful tunnels and chugs along beside deep ravines full of verdant vegetation, gurgling streams and tea gardens. One can notice a marvellous change in vegetation, as one goes from Kallar to Coonoor. The establishment of numerous tea estates made Ooty famous. Lofty mountains, dense forest, sprawling grasslands and miles and miles of tea gardens greet the passengers on most routes. The annual Tea and Tourism Festival attracts crowds in huge numbers. Getting to Ooty.

About De Rock
De Rock- Jungle Living Coonoor is located at Lambs Rock in the Nilgiris, skirting the natural rain forest on side and an overhanging cliff on the other (the famous Lambs Rock) Lamb's rock is an excellent picnic spot near Coonoor which is 6 Kms away from the Coonoor Railway station. It is a point on the way to Dolphin's Nose. It was named after the man Captain Lamb who tried in earnest to open a path to that particular point. With such a view, no wonder this man put forth such a valiant effort to reach the point.

Travel in 60 Seconds | The Trek through Lambs Rock (Coonoor-Tamil Nadu-India)
Kartik goes on a 10 km hike downhill from Kurumbadi with the local guide Sreeni (From Nature Resorts). They pass through beautiful valleys, tea estates and see the clouds serenading the mountains at Lambs Rock and Bakkasura Mountain, before getting on the top of a hill, with a small stream-waterfall for company, which feeds right down into the Bhavani River. The trek ends, when they tee off at the Hillgrove railway station, and talk about why trains go faster these days.
