Comal Springs at Landa Park in New Braunfels Texas
The Comal Springs are the LARGEST in Texas and the American Southwest. Seven major springs and dozens of smaller ones occur over a distance of about 4,300 feet at the base of a steep limestone bluff in New Braunfels' Landa Park. The Springs and the Comal River below are home for a federally endangered species, the Fountain Darter. In Spanish, 'comal' is a flat griddle used for cooking tortillas, so the name probably refers to the flat area below the bluff where the springs issue forth. This is video footage of the largest and most easily visited spring - just west of Landa Park Drive. Ironically, the Comal RIVER is said to be the shortest river in the United States.

Dry Guadalupe River in the heart of Texas Hill Country Labor day weekend 2018
Houston, theres a problem.
I have been documenting the Guadalupe River for over 30 years. It is one of most beautiful. poetically and profoundly, storied rivers in the great state of Texas Republic, a proud sponsor and supporter of the United States of America. The One River project has taken me on many adventures on this arterial, spring fed ventricle to our geographic heart. It is the key to life on this astonishing space ship we call Earth. It's up to us. Are we are going to take care of this place or not. Please consider joining in the fun!
We shot this yesterday on the Guadalupe just above Canyon lake. It was beautiful but in a eerie kind of way. I felt like I was walking on the moon. All of you folks in the Texas Hill country watering your grass and mowing your green flat lawns please stop immediately and consider other options like learning about permaculture and implementing the ideas. There are effective solutions that will help us improve this situation, we have haphazardly found ourselves in and we can do it faster than you might think. It takes a village!

March Membership Mixer @ Milltown Historic District
The March Membership Mixer was held at the beautiful Milltown Historic District. It was a wonderful setting with delicious food and more than 350 people in attendance for mixing and mingling.
The Mystery Member was April Carley of Courtyard by Marriott River Village and the 10th person to shake her hand to win $10 was Greg Lutz of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. Remember to introduce yourself to some new business connections and you might walk away with a little extra cash in your pocket.
The cash drawing had crept all the way up to $400 but you have to be present to win and Brett Westbrook of Bluebonnet Chrysler Dodge, Inc. was not in the crowd when his name was called. That means we’ll draw for $450 at the April Mixer on Thursday the 23rd at 5:30 at the Landa Park Golf Course at Comal Springs. For a full list of upcoming mixers visit MixersInNewBraunfels.com.

The Christmas Song (Chesnuts). This guy was singing by the banned cookies house that I think Mayor Boyer used to own. He was awesome, we thought it was just a CD playing at first.
