Hear head coach Kailin Downs, senior A Ram Choi and junior Alyssa Waite recap the 2014 Rose City Collegiate. Portland State hosted the tournament at Langdon Farms Golf Club in Aurora, Ore. Choi finished second overall with a one-over par total of 217.

2011 US Open Local Qualifying
Jack Paton of Hillbough, Calif. shot a 3-under par 68 to earn medalist honors at the U.S. Open Local Qualifier held today on the 6,944-yard par 71 layout at Langdon Farms Golf Club in Aurora, Ore.

Women's Golf Kicks Off Fall Season at Rose City Collegiate Monday and Tuesday
AURORA, Oregon – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros women’s golf team kicks off their fall schedule when they tee it up at the Rose City Collegiate, hosted by Portland State University, on Monday at Langdon Farms Golf Club.
The tournament will be a 54-hole event with 36 holes being played Monday and the final 18 holes played on Tuesday. Play will begin with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
Langdon Farms Golf Club plays at 6,057 yards long and is a par 72.
The Competition
UTRGV will be facing host Portland State, Arizona, Boise State, Cal State Fullerton, Concordia, Eastern Washington, Montana, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Oregon State, Sacramento State, Seattle U, Southern Utah, UC Riverside and Weber State.
Spring Change
After a fall season that saw them turn in a fall team average of 331, UTRGV showed considerate improvement in the spring as they posted a team scoring average of 314.
UTRGV finished in last place in each of their four fall tournaments but they came back with a spring season that saw them post three top-five finishes and Emma Mesta win the GCU Invitational.
UTRGV looks to make continued improvement this fall.
Last Year at the Rose City Collegiate
UTRGV didn’t compete in the Rose City Collegiate last year.
San Francisco won the team title in last year’s event after finishing with a three-round score of 871 with rounds of 285, 296 and 290. San Francisco’s Vanessa Ha won the individual championship with a three-round score of 210 after posting rounds of 71, 71 and 68.
The Rest of the Fall Season
The rest of the fall season will see UTRGV travel to conference foe New Mexico State for the Aggie Invitational on October 2. A couple of weeks later they head to Jonesboro, Arkansas for the Red Wolves Classic before closing out the fall season at the Rainbow Wahine Invite in Wahiawa, Hawaii on November 1.
