Shanhai Pass is one of the major passes in the Great Wall of China. It is located in Shanhaiguan District, Qinhuangdao, Hebei province. In 1961, the pass was selected as a National Cultural Site of China. It is a popular tourist destination at the eastern terminal point of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall. The location where the wall meets the Bohai Sea is nicknamed Old Dragon's Head Laolongtou (simplified Chinese: 老龙头; traditional Chinese: 老龍頭; pinyin: Lǎolóngtóu). The pass lies nearly 300 kilometres (190 mi) east of Beijing and is linked via the Jingshen Expressway that runs northeastward to Shenyang.

Walk From Highway into Shan Hai Guan - Quihuangdao
The bus dropped us off in the middle of the highway. We had to walk along the road to a place where a taxi was waiting for people using this travel scam. He got us to Shanhai Guan and this is our trip in. We started by looking at some of the eating and living quarters. This place has many names: Shan Hai Guan, Shanhai Guan, Qinhuangdao...tough to find on a search

Beidaihe Scenic Spot is a famous summer resort. It is located in the southwest of Qinhuangdao City. Its coastline, seaside attractions and convenient transportation all make it a popular destination for travelers. The region around Qinghuangdao has a temperate climate, with a monsoon cycle and four distinct seasons. It is neither too hot in the summer nor too cold in winter. On average, there are only about 8 days a year when temperatures reach 86F or higher. The lowest average temperatures rarely reach below 50F, even in the winter, thanks to the Bohai Sea currents. This makes Beidaihe convenient to visit year-round, although the best times to visit are from May to October.
