Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary:
(Assamese: লাওখোৱা অভয়াৰণ্য) is protected area located in the state of Assam in India. This wildlife sanctuary covers 70.13 km2, on the south bank of the Brahmaputra River in Nagaon district,[2] It is situated 40 km downstream of the Kaziranga National Park and 30 km northwest of the Orang National Park on the other side of the river Brahmaputra.
It is a part of the Laokhowa-Burachapori eco-system. The sanctuary is an ideal habitat for Indian rhinoceros and Asiatic water buffaloes. Other animals found here are the royal Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, Indian boar, civet, leopard cat, hog deer, etc.

Himalayan Griffon vultures cured at CWRC released in Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary
Ten Himalayan Griffon vultures rescued from inside Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary in central Assam’s Nagaon district about 12 days back, were released on April 5 following successful treatment for poisoning. Officials of the sanctuary along with a team of the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation (CWRC) of WTI-IFAW released the vultures in their home range in the sanctuary.It was on March 25, when a CWRC team rescued 12 Himalayan Griffon vultures battling for lives and found 14 vultures dead due to poisoning inside the sanctuary. Two vultures died on the way, but a team of CRWC veterinarians successfully treated the remaining ten vultures. The vultures became sick due to secondary carcass poisoning inside the protected area by miscreants. A joint meeting with residents of fringe villages to make them aware against carcass poisoning to protect vultures. Increase in incidents of secondary poisoning have led to decline in vulture population. People use poisoned carcass to kill dogs and other carnivores but most of the time vultures got affected.

Bura Chapori Wildlife Sanctuary (বুঢ়া চাপৰি অভয়াৰণ্য) is a protected area located in the state of Assam in India. This wildlife sanctuary covers 44.06 km2, on the south bank of the Brahmaputra River in Sonitpur district. The area was declared a Reserved forest in 1974, it became a sanctuary in 1995. It is located 40 km from Tezpur town and 25 km away from Nagaon
It is an ideal place for all those who want to spend their time far away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. The beautiful hills of the Himalaya mountain ranges along with the fast flowing water of the Brahmaputra river lends the place an enchanting ambiance.
Wildlife at Bura-Chapori Wildlife Sanctuary: The place is very rich in natural vegetation cover and comprises of various species of plants & trees that are hard to find somewhere else. The sanctuary also offers shelters to a wide array of animals like the Great Indian One horned Rhinoceros, Wild Boar, Civet Cat, Asiatic Buffalo, Barking Deer, Leopard Cat, Otter and many more. One can also find here the famous Bengal Florican and Ferruginous Duck along with several other migratory birds.
