Luang Prabang (Laos) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Luang Prabang in Laos.
North of Laos’ capital of Vientiane on the banks of the legendary Mekong is one of the country’s most impressive historic cities, Luang Prabang. In contrast to many other metropolises in South East Asia the former king’s residence of Luang Prabang has retained its pre-Colonial appearance and a seemingly endless number of temples and monastery complexes that are of great historical significance attract hordes of visitors each day. Thirty five monasteries that accommodate around seven hundred monks as well as a thousand novices and also the city’s many splendid temples highlight the deep religious faith that determines the every day life of Luang Prabang. The inhabitants of Laos are made up of a combination of several mountain tribes yet despite their differences they live together in harmony and perform their centuries old dances to the sound of traditional music, their performances filling the city streets with life. Luang Prabang, the unique former king’s residence on the banks of the legendary Mekong, has most assuredly managed to retain its remarkable architectural, artistic and religious splendour right up to the present day.

LUANG PRABANG TEMPLE DAY (Mount Phou Si & Typical Laos Food) | Laos Travel
Today was a bit rainy so we decided to head out to explore some of the beautiful temples (or wats) in Luang Prabang, Laos.
We visited so many beautiful temples in Luang Prabang, but our favourite was at the top of Mount Phou Si in the center of town. The Temple at the top was very sweet, but it was the incredible city view that really blew us away.
For lunch, we enjoyed some typical Laos food: Beef Lap and Noodle Soup.

Laos Travel Vlog #4: Luang Prabang World Heritage Sites and Lao Food!
Dwight spends the day visiting the top sites in Luang Prabang!
More info on Dwight aka Bangkok Fatty here:

The first day in Luang Prabang begins with a visit to the National Museum. The grounds are the former royal palace for the now deposed royal family and also house a theatre and the hall of the “Prabang” Buddha for which the city is named. Fee to enter is 30,000 kip.
The second stop was Wat Xiengthong. The temple is the most important, beautiful, and oldest temple in Luang Prabang. Fee to enter is 20,000 kip.
For both sites I would recommend you dress politely and go early to be the tour groups and the heat.
The video finishes at Maison Dalabua (House of the Lotus) a hotel near the city center that is surrounded by World Heritage ponds. The boutique hotel also has an excellent restaurant called Manda de Laos which specializes in traditional Laotian food presented with contemporary flair.
Set meals start around $25 (200,000 kip) and the average a la carte item is around $10 (80,000 kip).
Stay tuned for more episodes!

Luang Prabang is an amazing heritage and beautiful city in Laos. The streets are relaxing and charming, the view of the Mekong River are impressive, and the food and coffee is delicious.
Here's just a quick and simple Luang Prabang travel guide about the hotel I stayed at, a few things to do like visit the morning market, and having a great cup of coffee at Saffron overlooking the river.
Phounsab Guesthouse: (this is an affiliate link, if you book from my link I'll earn a small commission, but I recommend things I personally did) - I paid $51 per night for our room. Overall, great clean hotel, and the location was perfect.
Later on in the trip we also stayed at Apple Guesthouse: - another wonderful choice that has more of a family guesthouse feel to it.
Hope you have an amazing trip to Luang Prabang, enjoy walking around, the food, and the coffee!

Luang Prabang, Laos - A Small Group Experience
Luang Prabang in Laos is one of the most peaceful places I've been. This is picture-postcard South East Asia.
Luang Prabang is the sound of chanting coming from temples as you walk along the Mekong River just as the sun sets on another beautiful day. It's rising early to see the monks collect their alms from local ladies before you sample the colour, tastes and smells of the market.
It's about learning the traditions of Buddhism from a monk and putting those traditions to practice at the local temple. It's about climbing Phousi Mountain to catch the views of the Mekong and strolling on the Bamboo Bridge to cross the Nam Khan River.
It's about learning the ways of the land at a living farm and then cleaning the feet and the soul at the Kuang Si Waterfalls.
It's about rediscovering yourself as you discover the beauty of Laos and Luang Prabang.

Laos, why you should go in 2019
Laos specialist Dan explains why 2019 is such a good year to visit this unique country and why planning ahead is so important.
Laos is one of the few destinations where, in some areas, visitors are yet to deviate from a few well-trodden sights. It’s Indochina’s final frontier, and our specialists have trekked through jungles, scouted out caves and journeyed up rivers to get to know it more intimately. They can help you plan your holiday to Laos to follow in their wake.
Only now emerging after years of isolation, Laos is a country of steep, jungle-robed valleys inhabited by resilient communities who live at a refreshingly unhurried pace. The former royal stronghold, Luang Prabang, is a mosaic of golden wats and Indochinese villas, its streets often filled with silent processions of monks. In the diminutive capital, Vientiane, you’ll find faded French-colonial mansions and coffee shops. The rest of the country is predominately one blanket of green, carved with slow-flowing tributaries of the Mekong. As you explore, you’ll happen upon little-visited hill tribes, backwater towns and Cham temples that predate Cambodia’s Angkor Wat.
