Come along with us as we finally, after 10 years of Section hiking our local trail, the LT, we get to hike it E2E! (We had to quit our jobs to do so).
We are hiking it West to East, being dropped off at Redbank Carpark by Larapinta Trail Trek Support (LTTS):
They will also do our food drop at Ormiston, Ellery and Standley.
From Redbank we will walk home taking as long or as short as we want.
The recommended time is 20 days, although the more experienced you are the quicker it can be done. We will be doing it in 14 so I can document it along the way.

* Sections 4 and 5 would have to be our favourite 2 stages (with 8 close in behind). Being able to drive out from town whenever we want and hike up to and camp the night on Brinkley is such a privilege.

* Sections 5 and 4 would be our favourite, being the most scenic and the most rewarding for the effort put in.

* We have done Section 3 more than any other section, and in our opinion, Section 3 is the most physically challenging section on the Trail. Sections 4 & 5 have a higher difficulty rating than Section 3, when we reckon 4 & 5 are easier!

Salvos Adventure Fundraising trek - Larapinta Trail - July 2016
In May 2016, we set of with our group of trekkers on the Larapinta Trail in the Northern Territory. This seven day adventure commenced in Alice Springs and included five days of trekking through the West MacDonnell Ranges.
The walk took in breathtaking views from Euro Ridge, the famous Simpsons Gap and the spectacular Serpentine Gorge. Trekkers also swam in the cool waters of Ormiston Gorge, Hugh River, the majestic Orimston Pond and the Finke River - one of the oldest river systems in the world. The highlight for many was a pre-dawn hike to the top of Mount Sonder, the Northern Territory’s third highest peak to view a spectacular 360 degree sunrise.
Together we raised over $76,000 for The Oasis Youth Support Network to help young people who are at risk of, or are, experiencing homelessness. To find out more about our next adventure go to salvos.org.au/adventure.
