My friends and I laced up our shoes for some independent exploration along the trail. Our time was limited, so we only did one day of the trek, camped one night, and then returned to Cusco the next day.

Hi, I’m Miranda and the purpose of this video is to share the amazing experience of trekking with Apus Peru, the most ethical and eco-friendly tour company based in Cusco. I hope it inspires your own adventures!
Day 1:
At first I felt a bit guilty about having this big van drive me out to the mountains but when we arrived, our driver was able to take a woman from the villages with a sick baby to the hospital.
My amazing guide, Urbano, and I were trekking through the mountains of Peru for a few hours in the rain when we randomly met a family from the village and they invited us into their home to dry off, warm up, drink tea and eat corn and potatoes. I am so grateful for their kindness. We met as strangers but left as friends.
We continued hiking amidst some incredible landscapes then camped under the stars and a full moon that night.

2015 Peru Hiking the Lares Trek
A three day hiking trip along the LaresTrail
PERU: G Adventures, The Lares Trek and Machu Picchu!
I spent an incredible month travelling around South America in April-May of 2019. Here is the first part of our trip covering all of our adventures in Peru! We also visited Chile and Torres Del Paine National Park (video coming soon!) We travelled to Peru to see Machu Picchu and hike the Andes. We chose G Adventures as our travel guides and the Lares Trek as our challenge.
The local villages welcomed us through the Andes with open arms, we met a bunch of like minded travellers in our G Adventures group and we got to push ourselves to the highest limits (literally, 4,800m high!)

Lares Trek to Machu Picchu by Inkayni Peru Tours
This Tour 04 Day – Lares Trek to Machu Picchu combines beautiful lakes, local Quechua communities of farmers and weavers who are still living traditional lifestyles in the mountains, cultivating the practices of ancient knowledge and continuing to build stone houses similar to those of Inca times. The trail passes through highland communities with majestic views of the magnificent snow-capped mountains, herds of llamas and alpacas before arriving to the community of Patacancha-Ollantaytambo for lunch on the third day of the trek. In the afternoon we catch the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes troughtout the sacrey valley to spend the night and prepare to visit the most important Inka city in the Andes: Machu Picchu.

Probably the highlight of my trip, the Lares Trek traverses some of the most spectacular scenery in the Peruvian Andes. Towering ice and snow covered peaks, plunging valleys, verdant meadows with quaint villages of stone, herds of llama, alpaca and sheep, mystic forests, lagoons...it was tough in parts, especially for someone as unfit as I, but we made it in the end! Props to G-Adventures for everything.
